For the first drawing here labelled """gesture""" I tried following the advice literally and taking the longest axis then basing the rest of it off of that. It turned out horrible so I tried something else.

For the next drawing I tried just doing construction, so I started drawing a cylinder for the waist and continuing from there.

For the final one, I flipped the reference upside down and drew the entire thing upside down emphasizing drawing "what I saw" including shadows more.

I'd love to hear what you guys think or what resources I should look into or focus on.
