No, not quite it, that's a myth that's been widely debunked, as is attempting to brace with your knees in a loose position. Jumping would not come close to reducing your fall speed to safe levels.
You need to lie down as flat as you can, as to spread the impact surface area to its maximum extent, while covering your face and head. At that level of force, your neck is not enough to support its own weight if you were standing, so this will spread out the force.

That being said, an elevator in free fall, even with these approaches, will make your survival dubious at best, and you are not going to be able to avoid breaking bones.

Ah fuck, I might have just added to your paranoia.

Well I mean, I'm not actually gonna do it.
And if I did, I would give significant advance warning, and probably have some sort of archived submission system when transitioning to the new site.
But there's no need for nuking this site anymore, since the whole goal was to refactor the site massively anyhow. I have my mind set on this website's longevity.

This is one of the things I'm currently working on in the next overhaul patch. I'm taking tokens into consideration but I am debating if I should make it once a year or at a certain streak. I would love the feedback from the community on this.

> banana has shown significant improvement on environment, perspective, and anatomy. he gets to sit with the big kids. i won't have any sass. (also see answer for >naf)

PFFF WHAT
i take your point on the perspective but i struggle like hell with environments and i literally just began anatomy studies
every "clean figure" i've drawn for the most part was aggressively referenced or i had someone better than me red line it, with exception to the human in my dadsona which was just me but shittily drawn

I'm back.
I still have half a work day to work through, but a few things:

One, please (You) this post if there was anything that came up in my absence that needed attending to. I know I did this before but that thread died beyond exceedingly quickly.

Two, it seems like an overwhelming majority support an ascension system. For the time being, please answer this poll regarding what you think a good maximum level would be for ascensions.

https://strawpoll.com/224rprbc

Sorry for any site inconveniences in my absence.

I can't afford that right now. Maybe when I make it.

I believe you. Can you tell me a little bit about why you're leaving the site before I delete your account?

I am repeating this to get final proper confirmation on whether this will be a problem for anyone.

The current plan is this:
> Maintain the current cap of 10 MB filesize. Lower to a minimum of 5 MB if this is an issue moving forward (this likely will not happen).
> Implement file resizing to a minimum between 2000 and 4000 pixels in any dimension. Special considerations for unusually elongated content will be made.

Please let me know if you take any issue with this before I act upon it during the weekend, and apologies for all the inconvenience.

I posted this in the /dad/ Discord as well, but it doesn't hurt asking in two places.
Obviously you know I've been following Aguri guide as a framework...
> Aguri
Yes, I know. I'm deviating. The resources in it have actually been pretty helpful.
I have a pretty strong understanding of two point perspective, but not 3 point perspective or the more advanced topics in Scott Robertson. That being said, I'll break from the rigor of just obsessively chasing down "mastery" of a single topic, because learning art apparently isn't like math where you can just take things one at a time.
I'm not sure how best to advance. The guide lists "Sketching the Basics", "Michael Hampton Analytical Figure Drawing" and Ctrl+Paint's painting content.
So I'm at a crossroads. What would be best to move forward on? Are any of these too hard for me to jump into at the time being? Should I use something else entirely? I really need a sense of direction.

On an emotional level, it was cathartic. I poured my heart into something and touched on a very small sliver of my dream in a concrete way, something I wouldn't have the courage to do a year ago.
I learned a lot of things, but I learned more in the way acknowledging the things that I need to learn.
So I want to learn more. And I will continue to do so. I'm taking a one day break though; I am absolutely exhausted.

that wasn't intentional, seriously
i finished forty minutes before but was writing up the description but I kept hitting the 1000 character limit

speaking of which
going to increase it to 2500 in the next patch
fuck that character limit

I have to go to bed, so I apologize for putting this down immediately before I go to bed, but I would like some feedback, and I'll certainly read and respond after work. It's a bit greedy, but I have three specific questions.
Given my current skillset / history: https://dad.gallery/users/2/submissions

When approaching the DAIB challenge, how best should I approach it?
- Focus on my weaknesses and attempt to push myself in areas I haven't explored
- Focus on my strengths, and exhibit a masterful piece using what i am concretely capable of doing
- Focus on elements that make a final piece look aesthetically appealing (color, composition)

How much of the three weeks should I spend "preparing/studying" for the piece versus actually spending time working on the piece itself?

I have almost no experience with color, and very little experience with value. Should I stick to line work, do a greyscale painting, or attempt color?

I thought the seasonal challenges would be a good motivating factor, and to some extent, they have helped with people feeling "left out" because they didn't start early as well as people who want to schedule their breaks/commitment in a more flexible manner. This has been reflected in seasonal participation amounts, which have hovered around 200.

If you have other retention ideas, I'm open to hearing them.
