figure drawing for all it's worth is the one if you want to get into that, though i'd recommend steve huston's Figure Drawing for Artists over that. it's a broader approach that introduces the general concepts of construction / gesture slowly and has plenty of exercises throughout to help you digest what's being taught.

i'd recommend you do loomis afterwards, it's similar plus it has good basic information on fixed proportions and basic anatomy that'll help you draw stuff from imagination. it's also a bit more stern and geared towards ongoing illustrators, written from a 50ies perspective. huston is easier to digest
