This is actually an improvement desu, maybe it'll only require 250W at 5GHz. Pretty big efficiency jump from a 5GH i9-9900KS with a 1 year warranty.

All cancerous forced memes aside, this is still going to outperform AMD in the high end at 1080p but with higher end GPUs coming out this year, 1080p will no longer be a valid metric as 8K metrics come out. 1440p is now going to be considered low-end gaming as consoles move to 4K60fps gaming.

>All cancerous forced memes aside, this is still going to outperform AMD in the high end at 1080p
Very true, but Zen3 parts are also launching end of this year. Having a slight performance edge on Zen2 at twice the power draw and a higher price point isn't something that really matters to the middle of the market.

>> No.75363341

Power draw is irrelevant in modern computer chips that are optimized to enter low-power mode whenever possible even during heavy use such as web browsing.

You will never see maximum power usage outside of artificial synthetic tests ran for hours to no end.

>> No.75363376

I really don't get this 4k then 8k meme. What's next, 16k? Won't you need a cinema sized screen to appreciate it at that point? It's laughably stupid.

You have literally 0 understanding of screen res and the distance required to make pixelation non-visible. That's why we've been using AA, because at the cost of making games somewhat to distractingly blurry (ie 1080p native on a 32 inch monitor) what we really need is more densely packed pixels. Average 20/20 human vision has 300-800+ PPI sensitivity depending how close you are to a screen. You can go below 300 but only if you stand a couple of feet away from the screen, are you going to fucking do that with a computer monitor?

Even 4K on a small 24 inch monitor doesn't cut it so you still have to use some AA. The lower the PPI and the more AA you use, the worse things look.

Anyway the era of 1080p gaming circlejerking is coming to a close as 1440p replaces it as the new low end side of gaming. As long as you have a 16 threaded CPU past 2020, CPU performance will be even less significant even 4 vs 5GHz. Multi-core, however, WILL become critical as new 8K video codecs demand higher processing power for high compression encodes and all the other CPU-intensive things that will come with 8K res.

>> No.75363959
File: 59 KB, 618x500, view_distance_chart.jpg [View same] [iqdb] [saucenao] [google] [report]

Ok, retard.

>"If we were to use this equation to figure out the maximum resolution the eye could see at one foot (12 inches), we would get 573 PPI. Although some photos are printed at 600 PPI, you have to ask yourself:how often are people standing 12 inches from a photograph? As we double the distance from the print, the human eye is able to resolve half the detail. This means that at two feet, you will only need 300 PPI of resolution and at 10 feet, 60 PPI. Some fine art prints can be enjoyed at a distance and up close, and so, ultra-high-resolution prints may be called for."

Average viewing distance from a monitor is ~2 feet btw.

Intel themselves are going to have trouble reaching 5ghz when they move away from Skylake and 14nm

You mean you're back to Pentium III era speeds? The second generation 10nm+ processor that Intel dares to call an i5 has a 700MHz base clock and throttles heavily while drawing a lot of power: https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/197121/intel-core-i5-1030g4-processor-6m-cache-up-to-3-50-ghz.html

The gay men performance deltas get lower and lower the higher the res you go. It won't be 4ghz vs 5ghz anymore, it will be "who can crank out the highest SVT-HEVC FPS at 4K" and intel is already at a huge disadvantage in their own software.

Opencloud's SVT implementation has already been ported to x265 btw, you can call the early SVT encoder with this batch script on windows with the latest ffmpeg build:

for %%f IN (*.mkv, *.mp4) do (
ffmpeg -i "%%f" -c:v libx265 -x265-params svt -pix_fmt yuv420p10le -c:a aac -b:a 256k "%%~nf_10bx265.mkv"

10-bit precision encoding too, uses default settings, I don't know how to change them. BUT you better get real comfy with this as it will become the de-facto cpu benchmark in 2020. Pic related is 1080p btw.

Even I personally will admit that AMD is not on par with intel when it comes to gaming but the performance delta on average isn't even more than 10% across all games even at 1080p which is literally going to be obsolete the moment next gen cards roll out.

I have an i7-6700 and I look down on all of you. You're so fucking caught up on what thing gets you even 5% better performance that you don't realize how much you're getting ripped off. AMD has been complete garbage these fast few years and it's only until zen 2 that they've actually become a viable alternative to intel. We paid the premiums back then because AMD's A10s and anthlons we're dogshit, intel made sense back then because you really would get your money's worth in performance. Zen 1 had a really rocky start and the launch $220 price for a 1600 was an extortion for the performance it offered, it only made sense as a better HEDT CPU at the time. Zen+ made things better by being $20 cheaper and giving you access to higher clocked 3200/3400 XMP RAM and the price for magic RAM was going down (ie flare X CL14 kits).

That's completely changed today. Don't be a loyal fanboy to either company, just support what you think is better at the current time and do your fucking research. I'm happy to upgrade to zen 2 right now but maybe intel will get their shit together 1 or 2 gens from now, you never know.

I'm just here to laugh at inteljeets and their pathetic cope.

>> No.75365749

This shit is getting old man, as someone who's personally going to leave intel behind for AMD you're really beating the dead horse.

Which is why I mentioned to do your fucking research as well. R5 1600 first wave of benchmarks told you that the i7-7700 was 20% or more better especially in 1% lows. That was the same time that companies started competing each other for XMP RAM modules and the first 3000MHz kits were loose Cl16/18 garbage so nobody knew about the huge performance penalty of using slow high latency RAM on AMD's infinity fabric and most of the time zen 1 IF wouldn't even want to clock higher than 1400. Had that been factored in the 1600 would have only been 10% slower at worst and more people would have taken it seriously.

First they counted on the stupidity of their adversary, and then, when there was no other way out, they themselves simply played stupid. If all this didn't help, they pretended not to understand, or, if challenged, they changed the subject in a hurry, quoted platitudes which, if you accepted them, they immediately related to entirely different matters, and then, if again attacked, gave ground and pretended not to know exactly what you were talking about.

>With a $25 cooler you can push even the shittiest 6600K to 4.5 GHz and you wouldn't be forced to play BFV on ghetto settings.

Listen man I'm not trying to attack you, I'm just trying to tell you that your 3.9 GHz CPU can't run the game without future frame rendering. You can kick, you can scream, you can cope, it won't help.
