Why should I buy Threadripper when EPYC exists? At least it doesn't need a new motherboard.

EPYC doesn't have gaming cache.

If you are already invested to EPYC than there is probably no point in threadripper

If you haven’t invested into anything than threadripper is a much better choice for a workstation and core for core TR will be faster than EPYC as TR is not so heavily restrained in clockspeed

>DUHH LOOK AT THE SMALL DIFFERENCE IN THIS ONE OUT-OF-CONTEXT BENCHMARK INTEL BTFO
Don’t care. Intel® CPUs still deliver consistently higher performance in lightly-threaded and real-world workloads (as opposed to synthetic benchmarks) than our competitors, and utilize Intel®’s wide range of exclusive features and decades of industry-leading experience to deliver superior products for true professionals. Don’t fall for the Ryzen fad.

They actually destroy you in most single threaded applications.
You only win in software that bumps against the interconnect lag, that they're fixing literally next year, so get going or get shafted.
