Input lag is a meme. Core latency and RAM latency can drop FPS massively (And that's the main reason why Ryzen loses in gaming and why they've doubled L3 cache), but it's not something that's noticeable in therms or input latency. At worst you'll fell the FPS drop.

Northbridges on some Intel boards used to be way over 15W, nobody complained, we just swapped them out for huge ass passive coolers and it was fine. Suddenly this is a huge problem and nobody understands that you don't have to use X570 to get good performance with 3000 or if you do, you can probably afford a passively cooled one anyways, if not, you're probably smart enough to put a passive heatsink on it yourself.

>the boost is also only 3.9 instead of 4.4

I'm actually a bit skeptical about that part.
Because these CPUs would utterly crush Intel if that was the case.
from 3.9 to 4.4 is 12.8% increase, so we'd be looking at a single core of 161 and that's with fucked up RAM. Quickly looking at the recent benchmarks, the 9900k at 5.2GHz gets 161 points. That to me that sounds too good to be true, a cheap stock 4.4Ghz chip trading blows with a 5.2Ghz monster.
Also if this score scales linearly then at 4.7GHz we'd be looking at a SC of 172. If the chips hit the magical 5Ghz then it's 183 points.

I'm going to keep my expectations somewhat in check and in the best case scenario expect the higher end AMD to inch slightly above Intel's best in SC.
Anything more and it's one hell of a plus. Either way in few days we're finally going to know the real performance. Can't wait to see the proper benchmarks.

It's not wrong. Boost is never guaranteed on all cores. It's actually not even guaranteed on a single core. CPU MAY hit the boost frequency if the temperature is fine and there's still enough voltage headroom and the power consumption is in check.
Few different CPUs may boost differently.

No idea. Maybe there's something fucky going on with the BIOS and it's not reporting the boost correctly or something else is at the play.
It's just that the results are looking a bit too good to be true for me if these are in fact non boost results. It would put pretty much even the lowest end parts ahead of 5Ghz Intel.
I do wish these are non boosted results though, because it would make the upgrade even crazier.

The thing is, it has no meaningful impact, the CPU itself, even in single core, equals with those of Intels highest end and outdoes it in multi core.

>>71688252
I've seen Zen+ machines with higher RAM latencies that had no input lag problems. Memory access in nanoseconds does not matter when you're playing games at 100+ FPS, maybe you'll convince a few retards who weren't going to buy a Ryzen 3000 CPU anyways, but anyone who'se not a retards knows that.

So what you're saying is, the CPU accesses the memory just once and then it's over?

Because from what I understand, the CPU accesses the memory billions of times per second and those little nanoseconds add up to something significant that manifests itself through input lag.

I could be wrong, though.

Look retard, the average IPS screen has 5ms latency. Maybe 2ms if you want muh 240Hz TN screens. 1 millisecond = 1 million nanoseconds. So, the average input lag caused by your monitor is around 2 million to 5 million nanoseconds.

Difference between Intel and Zen2 is like, 20ns. That's around 1/100000 of the input lag of your monitor. Now, most code that your CPU executes is cached because it is used by the OS. Mind you, most game binaries are below 100MB and therefore they'll mostly fit in Zen2's L3 cache too.

The CPU WILL NOT poll the RAM 100k times a second because once it reads it, it can 1. read a contiguous block without further latency 2. execute billions of instructions based on what it reads off

It will be impossible to perceive this. Go and suck Intel's cock though, I don't care. It's natural selection after all.
