pokemon roms, /g/, reddet, youtube, movies/anime

i sometimes use ramdrive so i can get like 10gb of very fast quad channel storage

personally im glad i got the 4930k instead of 4770k or 4790k, i knew the extra cores would come in handy and its the reason i can use it fo at least a few more years before any frametime issues in games

mostly waiting for a good rtx game so i can play the grephiks, currently have metro exodus

i use madvr with ngu (superresolution)

the one use case i had for the ramdisk was to dump very high bitrate video from shadowplay, the ssd wasn't fast enough apparently or it was some bug in shadowplay. anyhow the ramdisk at 120 mbps video (or MBps?) solved it

the other use case is probably to put an older game/indie game on it and have it load very fast

Yup. It just works. Chromium with JS disable is very lightweight. It still plays my anime just fine. Very comfy to shitpost. Enough for development. It flies with a SSD. Unless it suddenly breaks, I don't see me replacing it in the next 6 years.

mint is a middle man to Debian and Ubuntu packages, they add no patches not they check how they push them. Is literally setup to fail. Just use the real thing.
Arch is unstable as fuck, pushing development versions of xorg is stupid. Fedora has the latest stable packages, and is actually maintained by the software developers itself; as in, it uses gnome which is developed by fedora and red hat, or systemd, SELinux, and so on. In this sense Debian and Arch are also a middle man who pulls the packages made for other distro, to themselves. It's just some basic reasoning on what quality can you expect, Debian is actually good, arch isn't.

All my friends report Mint as being stable. If you say it's setup to fail, how come people aren't reporting breakage?
>Arch is unstable as fuck, pushing development versions of xorg is stupid.
I think it's designed to be so, it's a rolling distro. There's no way it would ever be stable, unless it's abandoned (if we mean stable as in "doesn't change").

stable doesn't mean it doesn't change debiantard, it means it doesn't crash and behaves as expected. you can freeze a broken arch snapshot it will not make it stable because it's old. You can get stability by not changing functionality while fixing bugs

>> No.70170937

>stable doesn't mean it doesn't change debiantard, it means it doesn't crash and behaves as expected. you can freeze a broken arch snapshot it will not make it stable because it's old. You can get stability by not changing functionality while fixing bugs
Let's not argue semantics. I like my software being stable (in the Debian sense of the word), because it makes it harder for an update to break my workflow.
For example, recently an update to KDE caused Lattedock to not show icons for any open programs. It stayed like that for around 10 days and then it was fixed. These kind of things are very unlikely to occur in Debian.
Whether that works for you or not is up to you, some people do prefer bleeding edge because newer features, often bugs are solved, etc.

>how can i make all those specs show up?
install neofetch with your package manager

>only get some of the specs when i type in neofetch.
you may not get all the different specs that other people get since your OS may have different properites than others. For example when I run neofetch I will never get a DE (Desktop Environment) since I only have a WM (Window Manager) installed.

yea i installed it using sudo apt install neofetch.

i don't get resolution or a bunch of other specs.

so here's a speccy screenshot

Nothin' special.

Also, why are people still using Speccy when it's incompatible with like 75% of most modern hardware. When's the last time that things even been updated? Just use HWINFO.

That's really impressive they even got it to 1.4ghz, also the die looks alot like an AMD FX CPU.

>> No.70186020

It's a pretty similar concept even down to the retarded idea of shared floating-point units, but with much more threads. The individual cores are quite weak and on their own couldn't even beat the ancient ARM9 chip in my file server in CoreMark, and they don't even double what I get out of my C3000, but together they could probably excel at some general workloads.
