I've been using K-Lite Codec Pack with MPC for years now. Is there an objectively better media player that I should switch to?

I think its not mpc-hc exclusive but I have a lot of .wmv's and the search speed on them is atrocious. Whenever I skip to another point in the video it freezes for like 3 seconds before it continues.
