Write smallish programs and tinker with them. Your goal isn't to create anything useful, but to play with it to build your mental toolbox.

>>67239750
I do that but then when I have larger issues I look them up on stackoverflow which seems cheap even though that's apparently what everyone does. I just have an issue with staring at a blank sheet along with me thinking I need to use every framework, I don't know what I should be building and what I should be leaving to others.

Stop and think, what is the actual problem, and how would I solve it without a framework? Frameworks make it easy to write programs that do complicated tasks, but if you want to really understand programming, you should learn how to do things without, so you at least know what a framework is doing when you use it.

for example when I play siege I can only hear footsteps are the other sounds are so quiet you can barely hear it but if I unplug the mic a little it would work fine and you could hear gunshots etc.

my old asus laptop keeps losing power when plugged in.

the exact behaviour is that *sometimes* it switches plugged/unplugged status at variable speed (0.3-1 Hz) for some seconds or minutes.
i can't find a way to blame one component more than the other.
i spent a day repairing the cable of the charger, which was and is in bad conditions, and while my fix is awful and could still be the problem, the problem not being solved led me to suspect the real issue might be elsewhere: is this a reasonable failure pattern for a controller/contact inside the laptop? how can i diagnose which one?

PS: i have no other charger cable to try out and i'd rather not spend 20€ to buy another one with Asus snowflake connector.

Computer I'm working on for a friend boots if the cpu power cable is unplugged, then fully boots once you plug it in during this state. But if you try to boot with the cpu power cable in it turns on fir a second and shuts off. We got a exchange on the motherboard because I thought that was the problem but didn't work. I've tried running with one stick of ram, removed video card, resetting cmos battery, still didn't work.

Build is gtx 1060, i7, 16gb ram, 600w psu. My guess at this point is the psu is faulty or this isn't enough power, but it should be, right? Help me out boys.

If the PSU is working properly and is an honestly-rated quality unit, then yes, 600 watts is plenty enough power for those components.

I did something similar for GTA Online anti-idling, the time amounts are different and it's not the simplest way to achieve your goal (I set everything up as a timer so it would keep in its own thread and not disrupt other hotkeys) but it might be useful for you. You can see my entire script here: https://pastebin.com/k6WyAWuA but here's the relevant part:

; GTA timer variables
GTAIdleOn = 0
Return

; GTA V idle-avoiding loop
GTAIdle:
IfWinExist, ahk_exe GTA5.exe
{
SetKeyDelay, 60, 60
IfWinExist, A
{
WinActivate, ahk_exe GTA5.exe
Send, {w down}{s down}
Sleep 100
Send, {w up}{s up}
WinActivate
}
}
else {
MsgBox GTA 5 window not detected. Ending anti-idle loop.
GTAIdleOn = 0
SetTimer, GTAIdle, Delete
}
Return

#IfWinActive ahk_exe GTA5.exe
; Idle avoiding loop (ctrl+shift+I)
^+i::
if GTAIdleOn {
MsgBox Disabling anti-idle loop.
GTAIdleOn = 0
SetTimer, GTAIdle, Delete
}
else {
MsgBox Enabling anti-idle loop.
GTAIdleOn = 1
SetTimer, GTAIdle, 420000
}
Return

It sets up a looping timer to trigger every 7 minutes and perform the subroutine defined above at that interval. You can probably adapt this to whatever your needs are, or check out the full script for other shit you can reference maybe.

Oh also this part

IfWinExist, A
...
WinActivate, ahk_exe GTA5.exe
...
WinActivate

is basically to tell it to focus the game window before performing the action (since I use this when I'm doing other shit on the computer) and then give focus back to whatever I was doing when it's done. The first "IfWinExist, A" just tells it to remember the current active window so that the final "WinActivate" instruction acts on the last found window (whatever you were doing before the subroutine got called), and the WinActivate, ahk_exe GTA5.exe obviously focuses the GTA window.

Not sure if it's relevant to what you want to do but figured that part might be confusing if you're not familiar with AHK stuff. Anything else seems confusing the official autohotkey documentation is usually pretty helpful if you have a vague idea of what you're trying to do or what commands you want to work with.

>> No.67244699

>>67244621
>>67244675
Also that might not be necessary if the program you're trying to mess with supports methods like ControlSend that can send input to the window without it being focused. In my case GTA5 doesn't seem to like that and the only way I could find to get it to accept input when not focused was to emulate a 360 gamepad but that introduced other problems like sometimes making my real gamepad unresponsive when I need it later so I usually don't bother with that.

Maybe, look into https://autohotkey.com/docs/commands/ControlSend.htm and https://autohotkey.com/docs/commands/ControlClick.htm

Didn't work for GTAV like I said so some games will block it. Worth a shot though. If that fails you could use the xbox 360 method like I did for the dance macro (which I later disabled when I realized it was pointless since dancing doesn't even give you anything good and it was weighing down my script importing a big library for no reason) it's most of that commented out stuff though also requires this https://github.com/evilC/AHK-ViGEm-Bus to be imported to work

Windows is completely fine for 95% of tasks you would want to do, so dont let the board troll you into thinking you need linux. only completely switch over to linux after you've ran a Distro (Ubuntu,Mint,Arch,Gentoo) on a seperate Hard Drive or usb so you know if you can really live with having to command line anything and everything that goes wrong, and trust me something stupid will go wrong but its almost always a simple google copy and paste of code into a command line

I have been using Linux (Ubuntu 16.04) for about two years now. My HDD is breaking down so I went to SSD. Now I am rebuilding my computer, but I was wondering is there any pint in upgrading to the new LTS? 16.04 is comfy, it is the only Linux I have used as a daily driver and I still have the the ISO disc I created it with. This guy is kind of right, but don't let him troll you into staying with Windows. There is a certain satisfaction in running Linux and learning the stuff that comes along with it. Have you really read the new Windows terms and conditions where they basically lay claim to the contents of your Drive? Linux represents a hope for open source software and a future for computers as a tool condusive to the public good. Probably won't matter much, but test both locations if you want. Depends on the case design and accessories. Push/pull fan setup for best results. It's actually more simple than you might think. It uses deep learning, likely multiple perceptron. A perceptron is very simple. The output of a function shall be a binary value. Weights determine the probability of the output.

Typically an ML model consists of a json or xml file that's a series of weights. The ML program trains the model by splitting a data set and adjusting weights in this file. To write your own facial recognition program, you would need to create a predictor file that contains an initial hypothesis. Then train the data set on a series of images of faces and non faces. The program should split the set and adjusting weights until it reaches the desired confusion matrix.

Depends how your internet service is delivered.

>cable
Get an Arris SB modem. Make sure it's DOCSIS 3.1. You literally just plug it in, screw in the cable from the wall, and call the cable company to tell them the MAC of the router. If something is up with your cable, then they'll have to send a tech out to fix/reconnect it.

>DSL
Same deal but I don't know any good DSL modems, haven't touched it in over a decade

The optical terminal will probably just have an Ethernet jack on it, and the tech will run it into the house somewhere.

The correct answer is to connect a wireless access point to Ethernet cable that plugs into the computer, and then plug the computer into the AP.

You can easily do this by buying a cheap $10 wireless router off of craigslist, plugging both the PC and the cable into the LAN ports on the back, and then going into the settings on the router you just bought and shutting off the DCHP server.

Getting 144Hz on both monitors is not really going to happen. The DVI-D standard isn't compatible with the DisplayPort physical connector, so you'd have to get an active adapter.

Either run one at 144hz and another with a passive adapter at 60hz, or get a new monitor. DVI-dual was abandoned a long time ago.

Ram is what you did within the last few hours/day, HDD storage is memories from years ago, some of those important events from the last day or two will be put into "permeant" storage when you sleep but mostly all your day to day stuff will be deleted/forgotten (is volatile)

Hi, this is probably a dumb question but I am both new to networking and poor. I have a terrible 'smart' router that came with the ISP and it is so bad it makes you sign into it through your ISP account or you cant do anything, localhost just isnt there.. But anyways.

I was wondering, if I bought a non-wifi router, would I be able to plug the 'smart' router into that so others in the house can use wifi through it, but run all wired connections through the main router? so, modem>hard router>wifi router.

I ask because I found some nice models well priced with good reviews, I was going to get a dd-wrt router at first but it seems manufacturers are trying very hard to make it not work on cheaper models, the firmware for the router I have my eyes on was said to be basically just as good.

pic unrelated (or is it?)

What's the difference between these two?

No.
It's youtube clone in name only, it's more like just like vimeo/dailymotion, the idea is that it doesn't uses your bandwidth.
The video player the site uses is retarded, however the video files are available when viewing the page source, so is there a way to make a button to link to that video file? instead of viewing the source page and copying the video file to mpv?

Is M.2 only for SSDs? If I buy a laptop that has 2 M.2 slots, can I put hard drives in there or just SSDs?

Thread is currently at bump limit but I'll ask here before a new one gets made:
I'm on Arch Linux. I'm trying to install ungoogled-chromium from the AUR via trizen. Thing is, when I try to install it, it takes a long-ass time to install and then my processor starts burning up, running from 70-80 degrees C. Then my computer crashes.

Not really sure what to do at this point. Was thinking maybe I could throttle my processor so that it doesn't run so hot?
Anyone got any ideas?

Kind of a very stupid question. There is a Lenovo B50-70 laptop, which I have heard has non original parts in it, so I am not sure about the motherboard. Also the laptop is not in front of me. I know for sure there is a bios issue that makes the laptop just black screen after being turned on, but as I am not there I can't exactly open it and remove the CMOS battery. Any idea if there might be some other way to reset to default the bios? Or how long with will take for the battery to lose charge?

I remember learning that C++ sometimes automatically adds newline and return characters to the end of strings. When does it do that and why?

M.2 is only for SSDs. (either SATA or NVMe, either or both may be supported, check your mobo manual) Laptops and some motherboards (mostly ITX ones) have mini-PCI-E slots that really are general-purpose slots in a similarly-tiny package. They're usually for wi-fi but you can get tiny SATA and USB3 cards for them and shit.

It doesn't add \r\n to the end of strings. The I/O libraries might add them to the output stream once you're finished writing a line. This is usually signaled by std::endl or writing a \n or some other line-ending operation.

the thing you want is called "bridge mode" and most routers - even ISP shitboxes - will do it. The idea is that you flip a switch in the router's config and it turns itself into a dumb passthrough device. You get no routing, DNS, DHCP, or anything, it essentially turns into a modem. You can then plug this "modem" into your own router, and have your own router do wifi, routing, DHCP, and all the other router things you expect.

Having your ISP router being more than just a dumb modem, but offloading some but not all of its functions to your own router, is generally a bad idea that leads to obscure problems and the two things fighting over who gets to do what. Just use bridge mode and kill everything except raw internet access on the ISP's box.

it helps if you can just copy the names of the parts into a post, nobody is going to search those long partnames
