So Im stressed out that on Linux Mint every now and then the terminal randomly prints out a message about the cpu overheating and being throttled. My fans aren't spinning and it isnt more than an annoyance but I've read that it means my hardware is damaged. I have a laptop that I dropped once, but that was a long time ago, and I can't afford an upgrade. Is there a chance its a software issue and I'm not fucked?

Not at the moment, it's a pain to get the cover on because of the casefans.

It's a 2.5" drive in a 3.5" adapter that's designed to hold 2 drives, so I don't see how it can be the only one by itself that's heating up.

You buy them online because the ones you find in walmart are the shitty ones because multiple reasons.
MSI makes over average laptops.
Lenovo ones being the best hardware and cooling wise.
Avoid Acer and Razer gaming laptops.

But in general everyone will tell you to build a desktop or buy a used office PC and put a GPU on it.
But if you really want a gaming laptop look for a laptop with a 8th gen CPU and a GTX 1050Ti or better.
Look for the size of the heatsink of each model and be sure they are separate heatsinks, a laptop that uses the same heatsink for the CPU and GPU is asking for troubles in the long run.

Not him but think of it this way.
One uses a 95% accuracy sensor, the other use a 90-94% accuracy sensor which is cheaper to make since the standard is way lower but still fall in the good category and those who fail to met the standard get sold as 85-90% accuracy sensors, this is what you are getting.

This is hypothetically speaking, mouse sensors doesn't work this way but its only to give yourself a idea.

But, when it's unplugged it stays on for about 30 seconds and if you plug the cable back into the cpu power connector within that time it boots normally. Don't motherboards not turn on at all when there isn't power to the cpu? It's bizarre.

Its dying.
Also use Crystaldiskinfo.
Never buy seagate HDDs.

Reallocated sector count above one means that is dying but managing to stay alive fixing the problems itself.
Current pending sectors are the ones that are going to be fixed.
Uncorrectable sector count is the ones that are gone for good which casually its the same than pending so its only going downhill from here.

Stop using that drive, get another one and backup all the stuff you need from it fast.

The lack of glue, that its not gorilla glass but simple glass, and that the Chinese digitizer might have some insane latency and horrible accuracy.

Also change the screen instead the digitizer or deal with it, you have to be really experienced to change the glass of a phone because there is a stupidly huge chance of breaking the display while removing the glass, remember this glass is directly touching the display, also using a heatgun might damage it.

It's a hardware defect and the internal parts got damaged. From a similar personal experience you are fucked. Software will do no good due to reading/writing problems based on your description. No use accessing it since everything will freeze.
Worst case is you can diagnose it from a professional and will advise you the cost of recovering everything (depending on the damage) is very very high and I would rather personally accept it and buy another one.

or try this one

I have an issue with certain Google sites when trying to access them with Firefox. The google login page won't fully load, Firefox gets stuck transferring data from accounts.google.com, and eventually Firefox says ublock origin is slowing the browser down. I tried disabling ublock origin but the slowdown still occurs

This issue occurs on a macbook and a W10 desktop, running basically the same extensions and settings. Any idea why this is happening?

There is a youtuber I'm subscribed to and I swear for ONLY his videos I cannot see thumbnail previews of the frame by checking the seekbar. I just tried other channels and I observe the same behavior for two other videos by two other channels I'm subbed to, but a separate one has the seekbar previews working for both the android app and desktop. Is this something the channels can opt out of themselves? Tbh 3/4 channels (the ones without previews) are MMD-type channels, and 1/4 is a mario maker channel. So methinks if a channel has an age-restricted video maybe you can't have seekbar previews, but can anyone provide input? Idk where else would realistically have an answer besides a relevant subreddit but I don't like all the avenues for shitting on someone without even showing your face that reddit offers.

Not him but an out of context wiki link is kind of a fucked up answer because this is the type of thing you go your entire life without even considering to have a higher ceiling of functionality. You question it the first time when you pick up a computer, and maybe if your dad's around you ask if it can be better. He says no or he doesn't know. Then you stop question it after the first handful of times.

I'm 23 and I discovered "Everything" at 21 on /g/ in /sqt/ randomly. I don't even think it was my own question that introduced me to it. I've been living in front of a keyboard since I was 14, and would probably've gone another decade without knowing "Everything" existed otherwise. So it's fucked. Just vaguely implying he should've read the sticky and consequently the wiki doesn't give him the consciousness to ensure he's always questioning if what he assumes is normal is the optimal method. And he did question it though. I feel your commentary of "read the fucking wiki" is an angry "I shouldn't have to spoonfeed you" band-aid solution since it starts from lack of consciousness, which you didn't help. But obviously you aren't here to educate the willing, so you'll just call me autistic for criticizing this.
>>67223643
So the other dude gave you an answer already, but use "Everything" by voidtools https://www.voidtools.com/. It searches with much greater freedom and speed than Windows explorer. The wiki link he dropped provides another option but I'm not familiar with it. "Everything" has an option for thumbnails under "view", just so you know, since I once recommended it to someone and they passive-aggressively said it had no thumbnail view so it's not for them.

The difference in durability and reliability is way too big when it comes to thinkpads.
When it comes to XPS it doesn't matter that much, you could get either.
Gaming laptops are not exactly made to last, only to run well.

Check MSI or Lenovo gaming laptops.
Also when you do be sure it uses a big heatsink and not a shitty anemic one, or one that shares the heatsink for the CPU and GPU.

Against XPS? The gaming laptop is better.

Shitty heatsinks, case is made of the cheapest heat resistant plastic around, cheap battery, etc you get the idea.

Last week I finally decided to upgrade from my old ass 2500k. I bought an 8700, MSI Gaming Plus z370 board and 16gb of 2400mhz ram. Since I was able to pick it up right then and there I went with the 8700 because they didn't have the 8700k. However I didn't realize I could price match the 8700k to microcenter for a lot cheaper.

I'm considering returning the 8700 for the 8700k. Is being able to maybe clock up to 4.8Ghz from 4.3Ghz worth the trouble of taking the heatstink off, taking the cpu out, cleaning it, putting it back in the box, exchanging it, installing the cpu and heatsink again and reinstalling winodws?

My heatsink is the Hyper 212 Evo. The performance boost I got from upgrading is amazing by the way. So I'm not even complaining about that.

Let's see.
You have 24 * 3600 seconds of footage, so the total size is
(v_bitrate + a_bitrate) * 24 * 3600 / (8 * 10^6) GB
if the video and audio bitrate are set in Kbps. Since I don't know which audio codec you want to use and whether you only record speech, I'll stay on the safe side and set the audio bitrate to 128Kbps.
Next to the video bitrate. You achieve decent results with a bits per pixel value between 0.1 and 0.2 (again, only a rough estimate). For 0.1 bpp that makes
0.1 = v_bitrate / v_height * v_width * frame_rate
Assuming a 16:9 aspect ratio and 30fps frame rate, that leads us to a video bitrate of about 700Kbps.

Using the first formula we get a resulting file size of ~9 GB, which is ~8.7 GiB.

Using a fresh Firefox profile (on both 61 and Nightly 63), imgur embeds don't work for me. Does anyone see the same as in the attached picture?

When using the export to .html in microsoft access, will the data being changed in one change in the other.

In other words, if you export to html and add a submit button. Then you click submit to update some data, will it change correctly in Access?

Or does this require something else?

If you're pushing the limits of what's possible, sure, someone's always going to be willing to sell you a premium product at a premium price. That's why stores are full of $3000 tvs. But you can get most of the practical power for around $700 if you don't buy into the bullshit.

Yes, it only works for the actual websites themselves, but then again it never really broke uBO or Violentmonkey so I never really noticed/cared.
There might be other ways to do it, but the easiest way if just the websites isn't enough for you is to change the command of the button you use to open Firefox to
GTK_THEME=Adwaita firefox

to make everything in Firefox use it. How to do this in Unity is pic related but its pretty easy to do regardless of DE. See if you can work it out yourself or let me know what DE it is you're on.
