It's a 1080ti on a 12nm die with faster memory.
Also intel is releasing a cheap i9 8 core i9 9900k
It's an up branded 7820X with limited memory channel and lower pcie lane support.

And everyone else who has a pair of eyes, an internet connection and a reading ability at least that of a 7 year old. The 1180 will have 3584 cuda cores which is a tiny bit more than the 1080ti, this is confirmed. What remains to be seen is potential clock speed increases that come with a 16-12nm shrink, but it won't be as substantial as say the Maxwell to Pascal jump.

you only need a 4core because games are programmed badly most perform the same on 2core and would even on 1core if they still made them. task manager lies to you just because it shows all other cores on 30% doesn't mean they are actually being used that's just sound engine and postprocessing and if all 6 of them 30% or what ever was on main core it wouldn't even take up 1% of performance and not change your FPS at all.

metro is like the only game that performs better on 4+ core and its already been proven they did that on purpose because they are sponsored by intel and a config edit makes it perform one a 2core the same as a 8core.

no game is multithreaded you might have heard the meme that supreme commander was a multicore game but its since been proven it wasn't.

multicore games don't exist and never will.

pubg for instance lags in opening menu on a 2core but in game a 2core 4core 6core and 8core all perform the same.

multicore is useless best gaming cpu atm is i3 8350k its a 4core (i3 are the new i5 now) and it can overclock to 5.5ghz on air its the best performing cpu for gaming due to its highest possible overclock of all of the 8series.

>> No.66773157

it will probably be less than 15% you realise a 980ti with a volt mod can overclock to almost the same performance as a 1080ti. 10/11 series has overclocking disabled and its inbuilt overclocking is a meme its max clock is just its standard clock and it clocks lower default to make you think its overclocking its self. its not nvidia disabled overclocking to save money on warranty returns.

only reason to get a i5/i7 for gaming now is if its non K series and you want the higher default clock. but even they are dumb because a ryzen 3 is cheaper and overclockable.

literally only gaming cpu intel make now is i3 8350k. (and even for streaming its the best because twitch streaming doesn't get any benefit from more than 4cores)

It'll be at least $500, and a few months later AMD will be releasing a 12-core at 4GHz+ (will probably boost to 4.8 or 5 after XFR) for around the same price. Assuming Intel gets 10nm+ out for the 9900k (they won't) it'll be an 8700k with two more cores. If they don't get 10nm+ working before then, it'll be an 8700k with two more cores and either a lower clock speed or housefire temps. Oh, and you have to buy a new motherboard, meanwhile first and second generation Ryzen owners can drop their shiny new 3800X into their current build.

GTX 11xx series will be Pascal on a new process with either GDDR5X or GDDR6 for the whole lineup vs GGDR5 and GDDR5X for the 10xx series. Expect slightly higher clocks and a little more memory bandwidth. I'd be surprised if the 1180 even matches the 1080 Ti.

GloFo is already producing 7nm and will ramp in a couple months, and they can produce more than AMD could possibly use by themselves from one plant. Meanwhile TSMC is aiming to produce 12 million wafers this year and likely even more next year. A chip like the A12 is not very large and you could likely get several hundred full dies from a single wafer. Even if the iPhone 9 sold spectacularly they aren't even within an order of magnitude of being able to consume TSMC's full capacity.

Except for the tensor cores GV100 is GP100 on a newer process with more CUDA cores and higher memory bandwidth. The increase in compute performance on non-Tensor enhanced workloads is almost exactly proportional to the increase in CUDA core count. The remaining difference could easily be accounted for by the higher core clock. GTX Volta will not have Tensor cores nor will it be a 800mm^2 die, which means it will be Pascal on a better process node, with slightly higher clocks and slightly increased memory bandwidth if they use GDDR6.

That statement is completely fake, as Intel maintained soldered dies on all their HEDTs up to Skylake-X, all of which transferred heat much more effectively than the current SL-X. Hell, their Xeons are still soldered to this day.
