If you don't have a slow cooker, get one today.
Your warm meal can welcome you when you get from work and you can sleep while your oatmeal is cooking for breakfast.
And did I even tell you that you can make bread, lasagna, cheesecakes and more?
The patrician man has a slow cooker readily available.

No, it is even better.
The slow cooker won't nag or cheat on you.
You can mind your business and torrent that movie from that private tracker while the slow cooker is almost done with the lasagna.
It is fucking incredible.

You can cook rice on a slow cooker.
But you can go ahead and get a rice cooker if you want to.
I have a slow cooker and a pressure cooker.
I only work with the pressure cooker on weekends (for obvious reasons).
Those are the only two tools that I need for cooking.
And I'm fairly fit with 23 BMI since I don't gorge on fast food.

cooking anything of any significance feels like such a waste when you live alone though. Especially since ingredients of all sorts are sold in huge packages, meant for people who make meals for whole families regularly. Anything perishable is an enormous pain to figure out how I'm going to finish it all before it spoils.

It's simple maths boy. Slow cooker is 70-100W (depending on your model) on low. You run that for 8 hours it's 800WHr. My oven is 2.2KW per hour. If I run it for half an hour that's 1100WHr.

Slow cookers are great, but obsolete.
Electric pressure cookers outclass them in every way. Slow cookers can never reach above water's boiling point, so Maillard reactions never happen. Nothing ever gets browned, and most aromatic compounds get boiled away.

Poor? Pick up a $10 slow cooker at the thrift store -- the tech's been refined for decades, and any bullshit brand will work fine. Nostalgic? Do whatever the fuck you want. Shill? Keep on using words like "patrician".

Wouldn't it be cool if there were a life-size anime figurine, who had a slow cooker in her stomach?
You could get her 'pregnant' with food/ingredients and she'll warm the food baby, and when you come home from work after a long day of fixing pajeet's shitty code, she has your food all warm and ready for you. The warmth will radiate through the rest of her, so that you can be comfy cuddling with her on the couch while you eat and watch anime together.
