>How's the quality on PC while connected through USB?
fine. specially if you use wasapi or not windows
on latest win10 build it got slight popping issue for me at 32bit/44khz in chrome with youtube, weirdly games worked fine
24/48Khz seems to be ideal setting on mine
it powers my 600s at about 10-11o'clock on a knob high gain, bass and higher mids on 600 start to sound cleaner after a weaker amp
those damn strings start to sound real, it's like you got your ear near them to hear every post pluck distortion
you can also hardware EQ it for warmer sound with internal switches
funny thing, mine came with two packets of switches and two replacement LEDs

one more thing, gain switch changes sound very slightly for hd600s on low/high gain loudness aside, it takes a while to notice so play with it

I'm thinking in buying this cheap headphones.

I want a basic headphones to watch movies, tv series and stuff like that. I want them to be over-ear, from a well known brand and with cable. This is the best I have seen until now. Opinions on it? Any other recommendation? It should be under 40$.

Things I don't like about this Sony cheap headphones:

- They don't have even volume control.
- The thin plastic in the ear zone. I have an old ones and that thin plastic is all broken. The one in here >>66361896 is made of a better plastic.

I picked up a couple of often shit on headphones with the intention of returning them if I hate them.

Surprisingly good. This is my first set of planars and I'm surprised by how good the bass is. I'm probably going to hang on to them. Incredibly heavy and uncomfortable though. I'm going to have to look into some mods that will allow me to use them for more than an hour.

I got these on sale for $280 and feel like I overpaid. Their build quality and comfort are top notch but they sound terrible. Everything just sounds so muddy. My HD558's sound better to my ears. I should have bought 600's instead.

How much sound quality improvement do you actually gain by upgrading your dac/amp? For example, comparing the Fiio 10K to the NFB-11.28 if both dac/amps can drive the headphones you're using?

My little Fiio 10k does great, but it's so tiny that it almost flips the device when you turn the volume knob. I want something bigger just for better form factor, but I don't want to spend money on a similar device just because it's bigger, if I can actually get better audio quality by investing in a more expensive dac/amp.

When I compare a $75 dac/amp to a $330+, I'm thinking of an eargasm difference and not just the slightest of audiophile sound tuning. Which result would I actually accomplish?

This is one of the few hobbies where we accept people that disregard what a vast majority of people's experience is. We praise those claiming there is no difference that have not listened to a lot of gear because the biggest group of users is young adults that can't afford to buy better gear so they start believing that there really is no difference as a means to make themselves feel better about their shitty o2/odac. Instead of being happy where they currently are and heading to meets and planning out future purchases they would rather come in and tell everyone that hears a difference they are wrong. That sir is trolling.

Gimme an advice.
Around 50$
Turd world country with prices like 30-40% higher than at Amazon, but I've counted that into budget.
Laptop. No amp or any other audiophile stuff.
>Type of headphone
Full-sized. Slight preference for closed ones, but doesn't matter that much.
>Comfort level
Well, willing to trade that for quality.
>Sound signature
Neutral, I guess. I listen mostly to metal/rock, but like vocals as much as instruments, so neutral would be best, right?
>Past headphones
Porta Pro. But nowadays I do not use them outside (got IEMs for that), so portability doesn't matter. Some durability though would be nice. But what I'm mostly looking for is best sound quality for the money.

Great wire does sound different. George Cardas is known throughout the high end audio industry for making and designing a superb line of interconnects and cables. If (you) cannot hear the difference -- OK. Fair enough. I didn't know what great art was until I became educated in knowing what to look for. But the more that (you) listen to excellent audio gear the more you will advance to a level of greater understanding; greater enlightenment. Bottom line -- Trust your ears and listen to the music. PS -- cable design is based on physics and George Cardas (Cardas Audio), Ray Kimber (Kimber Kable), Caelin Gabriel (Shunyata Research), and Joe Kubala (Kubala Sosna) are all gifted artists and geniuses.
