We really need a guide or something to make newfags read, this is starting to get embarrassing. The shit in the OP is so old, that half of the websites aren't even updated anymore.

I'm getting sick of /v/ kiddies coming in to brag about their Logitech shit, or some dumbass coming along that can't wrap his head around silent MX switches. Maybe it could just be a tier list of keyboards with price ranges recommending the usual shit we do.

If only we had an Autistic hero that could put together a basic image recommending Ducky Ones, Anne Pros, and Tada68s while putting everything Logitech, Corsair, and Razer in shit tier.

You'd think with a hobby as autistically nerdy as this, we'd have just one dude with enough initiative to make a simple list; thinking about it now, I guess there hasn't been a good mouse tier list in a long time either. We have a guy that posts the same exact Filco board, with the same exact keycaps every single thread, maybe we can convince that guy with no life.

I love the esthetics of this keyboard. I had Octane and couple of O2s years ago but I still don't remember to this day was this particular model mechanic or with rubber domes. Does anyone here remember?

Do you have a single clue about what you're talking about? By your own admission, a shined keycap is useless, but PBT keycaps don't shine for decades, only ABS keycaps shine after a couple months. Following your own logic, you'll have to replace your ABS keycaps with Alps stems because they've started to shine, addressing the very thing I was talking about and the reason why I use PBT keycaps. It seems like you were projecting with that Reddit statement, because you just contradicted yourself.

Oh wow, you really are suffering from the Dunning-Kruger effect. As other anons have posted, we choose PBT because it doesn't shine, and a lot of people don't like shine. Even GMK quality ABS keycaps will shine after a couple months, and as >>63979423 said, he uses EnjoyPBT which are some of the best keycaps you can buy, mainly because they're thicc, Cherry, and PBT.

You seriously can't be this stupid, maybe you're just butthurt that someone BTFO you earlier in a past thread or something.

What's wrong? Keycap profile doesn't matter, remember? So what's wrong with using a flat keycap set, you can't just say THIS IS GOOD! AND THIS IS BAD! And like I said earlier, I completely agree with you, I don't use ABS because they shine, and I use PBT because it doesn't shine, so that's why I'll unfortunately never use Alps switches. Granite and Tron DSA PBT keycaps look cool though.

Holy shit, you're even dumber than the last guy that was shitposting here about a stupid rubber mat keyboard. Tell me where in my post I said anything about quality? PBT keycaps also have a nicer texture than ABS keycaps; that being said, that doesn't stop me from owning a GMK set, but I'd rather use my EnjoyPBT because of their feel.

For topres the weight listed is the bottoming out weight, not the actuation. So if you bottom out then 55g topres are lighter then cherry reds. If that’s too light you can get heavier domes and swap them out. It’s really easy to do since you don’t have to desolder anything. They're pretty good, but too heavy. So that's why there's so many people that manufacture all types of different switches like Zealios, MODs, Hakos, ergo-clears, just to have a Cherry Clear with a medium weight, trying to achieve the most tactile and comfortable switch. The true redpill is buying Cherry Clears with 60 gram springs (62 grams are better, going over that and it gets less tactile), and then spring swapping your Clears while lubing the stems. That's the quick rundown, but most people just buy Cherry Clears and are done with it because they're lazy, or haven't heard an alternative to Zealios.

Who started this lie? The lower the weight is, the less tactile it is. Stock clears you actually feel the bump and anything less than 78g you just blitz past it like an odd linear.

They arent.

People on this thread have this false notion that more tactile = better. Thats just retarded, if it was the case, amber omrons would be the most loved switch in existence, blue alps would be shit, kailhs with click bar would be shit, and anyone would prefer membrane buckling springs to capacitive ones.

If any of you have any tactile or clicky alps, just bend your click leaves to be the most tactile possible. Its terrible to type.

It's the other way around. The lighter your spring, the longer it'll take to go over the bump, giving it more tactility, but it can't be too light or else it won't reset correctly. There's also spring constants, and for whatever reason, 62 gram springs are made with a spring constant that let's them cushion near the bottom, so you get a pleasing asymmetrical amount of force where it's light in the beginning, then becomes "heavier" at the bottom-out, allowing for a nice rebound.

Here's the BOX Jade which is a BOX Navy with a lighter spring. The tactically is so insane, it somehow exerts more force than the bottom-out. By Kailh's own testing though, this type of switch theoretically shouldn't exist.

Tactility is measured by how much the force is dropped after the tactile peak force. The stronger the spring is, the smaller this drop will be.

Here's the same switch, but with a heavier spring. The difference in tactility is roughly near 10 grams, with higher tactically in the lighter springed Jade switch. It's a hard phenomenon to explain, but tactility comes from the force of the spring being just enough to allow for the stem to bypass the resistance between the stem and leaf contact, causing the potential energy of the spring to be "stored" until it explodes in force back to the user because it's kinda similar to overcoming static friction, which obviously follows Newton's Law (object in motion, blah blah). Look, I'm sure you understand how tactically works, but the easiest way to explain it in Layman's terms is that the switch gets its abrupt change in force because of the bump in the stem, and a lighter spring within the right amount of force can capitalize on that change because of the stem's own resistance coefficients. It's like Goldy Locks, too heavy and it passes right by the bump having almost no change in force because the force is already so strong, too light and it isn't powerful enough to cause a disruption in force. And then you can bring in something about Hooke's Law to understand tactically about the rebound from the spring constant when it comes back up to reset, but fuck it, I've already been Autistic enough.

That's entirely from the stem profile or whatever else they have in the housing that gets out of the way once pressed. Which is why I still think those are going to be bottom-out central due to how high the tactile bump is compared to bottom out.

But has anyone taken them apart yet? I'm curious what the inside looks like.

I do lots of programming and writing, I find the arrow keys essential. However, I don't see why I wouldn't use them on the numpad if using them doesn't require the usage of a modifier key.

I have a full size, TKL and 60% keyboard, and I like them all about the same in terms of layout.
I actually use the full size one for gaming because it has MX Reds, and I don't have an issue with mouse space, even though I play at a very low 36/360cm sens.
I use the TKL mostly for programming because it's Gateron Blues.
And I use the 60% on the go with my laptop.
