How about triple channel?

no it's not, the DM000 4TB drives are fine.

as of Q2 2016 over ~34,000 units and only 2.66% failure rate.

Western Digital was far worse with more than double that failure rate, HGST was better, but they tend to make more expensive data center drives to begin with and i'd expect that.

Still running stock clock, I will go for a cheeky 4ghz when I de-dust and redo thermal paste on the cooler (h-100). As long as I can get 1080 60 in BF1 I will be happy.

CPU has been running at 4,2GHz for a while since there are only few games that bottleneck it for me. Could get it to around 4,5GHz with some tweaks but then the heat output starts to overwhelm my hobo tier Hyper T4 and the toothpaste between IHS and chip cant really migitate heat spikes.

I don't think so. ES CPUs are a little strange, and the BIOS needs to support that. I'm not rocking the boat, as this BIOS works and I can't afford to have any downtime, or worse, replace CPUs with legit ones.

Amiga was the shit. So was the C64.

Interesting. I remember seeing 2.6 being advertised for those 2699v4 though they range. Real ones hit 3.0 on all cores.
I think only certain BIOS on certain motherboard models 'allowed' that type of overclocking. Real E5-2699v4s are 2.2GHz base. Not sure what they turbo to.

>I opted for a 2690v4 myself as it was more of a sweet spot with core performance. All cores hit 3.0.
Yeah if I had to do it over again, I would have gone with the low voltage 12core models, which were dirt cheap, like $125 each for ES CPUs. These fuckers were like $860 each.

>Weird though that Turbo seems to be really fucked. Gets nowhere near 4.0 on a single core like real ones will.
I'm more of a multitasker, I run a lot of tabs, and stuff, but 44 cores is beyond overkill. A dual 12core system would have been perfect for me, but this was a vanity project - so I can say my computer is bigger than yours.

I just wish my video rendering shit (Premiere CS6) would use all my cores.

It can completely be an issue. Just checking CPU-Z doesn't cut it, there have been plenty of completely broken features (even on retail CPUs) that report as functional.

Gotta remember that the processors sent out for review to Linux, Kek Syndicate, Pauls Hardware, etc. are all Engineering Samples.

Would Intel risk their reputation with the media if the engineering samples might negatively reflect on them? Of course not.

Are there issues with ES CPUs? Maybe getting a BIOS that supports them, but that's about it. I had a Core2Extreme QX6800 that's been running at 4GHz for 7 years now, never any problems.

I was going to get a 6950x, and budgeted up to about $1500 for it, but when Intel went full greedy and wanted over $1700... is said fuck that. I bought 2x E5-2699v4 ES CPUs for less than a 6950x. I spent about $100 more on the motherboard, and I am now able to run ECC 2400MHz memory, and upgrade to up to 2TB if I want in the future.

So, with the exception of having to verify that any BIOS upgrade I might get will support the ES CPUs, I don't have much to worry about. However, I have an absurdly powerful workstation and really didn't spend more than a couple hundred dollars more than what I would have bought. But the good news is that I didn't put any money in Intel's greedy pockets.

The fact that Windows 10 is nefarious is fairly established and that's a simple reminder, now expecting your idleness to be reciprocated without an afterthought is a bridge too far. You can't reasonably defend a bad choice if you don't understand it fully, I empathize.
