Oh shit I need new headphones. Pic related is mine.

>> No.52150901

The Basstyle. I've seen people say it's basically a rebranded Takstar Pro80. The specs listed do seem different but that is most likely balogni.

You could also get a HyperX Cloud 1 and just remove the detachable microphone if you want to be safe as that's guaranteed Takstar Pro80 clone.

Never go below the M40X and I wouldn't get the Koss for those cheap tier earpads that come with it.

ok... fill out the form sperg

Looking at the specs, the Basstyle uses the same housing as the Pro 80 but different drivers so there's no guarantee it'll sound as good.

Headphone noob here asking for advice.

Ok /g/ so i want to buy my first pair of decent headphones, i will primarily use them for muh gayming.
I mostly play RPG/JRPG(e.g.Witcher 3/Final Fantasy) and these genres have a lot of dialogues , i dont usually listen to music but i DO care about in-game soundtracks (boss fights for example).

So i'm looking for something that will be pleasing to hear when the soundtrack kicks in, but i also want detailed sound with clear mids/highs (i guess this is the flat sound signature? i dont know).
It is not a must but wireless would be a plus since i intend to use them far from my desk. It should have at least detachable cable though.

80 ohms is the best if you don't have an amp, because it sounds better than the lower version and you need an amp for the higher one.

it's basically as loud as you hear it.
Crude comparison, take off your headphones, point them at your ear and hold them further/walk away

that's similar to how it'll sound, because it's pretty much like speakers

it'll still be more quiet than actual speakers because you wouldn't use them as loud as actual speakers

Right now I am using Sennheiser CX870 that I bought for 50$, but they are a bit too sibilant for my taste.

I think I will like the V shaped sound of pistons 3. I dont want to end up with shittier headphones than my Sennheiser CX870, cause price is much lower for pistons. Also the sound engineers working in Sennheiser should be better and more experienced than the ones working on pistons.

I just got the HE-400i. Been listening to them for a few hours and I have to say, people's reviews about them online are really inaccurate. Everyone's like wow they're so airy and neutral and detailed! Not that I hate subjective reviews, I guess around this price point the average user won't have listened to enough headphones to make good ones. I'll give my impressions here because there's a sale right now.

First off they're actually quite dark. Not LCD2 levels, but it's noticeably darker than something like the HD600 even. I personally hear a weird trough at low-mid treble. Don't get them if you dislike recessed highs.
Something people are right about though is the soundstage. It's really tiny, possibly the smallest or second smallest I've heard. Also don't get these if that bothers you.
Bass is clean and energetic but there isn't a lot of it. You like lots and lots of bass, don't get, etc.
There's an average amount of air, just barely enough to not sound extremely congested.
Detail retrieval and technical power are as you would expect around this price point, good but not amazing. It'll be enough for many though.

If I'm being critical it's because I expected a completely different sound. Their strengths are that they have a nice thickness and body, there's a lot of energy and dynamics, and best of all the sound is not dry. Fucking hate dry thin grainy sounds.

I think I'll keep them for a while. I have the LCD2/3 and the HD600 if anyone REALLY wants comparisons, hopefully not though because I hate /g/ and I don't want to.

>> No.52158794

I also have them, but in black/red. Pretty decent headphones. I got BB to do a price adjustment and loving them so far.

>Preferred type of headphone
Full sized.
>Open or closed
>Comfort level
I want something I can keep on for hours at a time. I'm not a stickler for sound quality too much, I just want something that sounds remotely decent, I've been mainly using $20 Sony ones ever since 2004 but the damn things keep breaking even though I take them off when I sleep, don't lean on either side, and generally do my best to take care of them.
>Preferred music
Rock, jazz, relaxing music I guess? I'm just looking to mainly use these for games, using it for proper music is just a secondary application I'm not too worried about.
>Past headphones
Like I can remember, just some of those cheap $20 Sony ones, a couple in-ear ones which drive me up a wall since those rubber tabs constantly detach or they start hurting my inner ear after a couple hours.

I received some open headphones as a gift but I don't like how they don't fit over the ears and I know it would bug the people around me, so we're fine with exchanging it but no stores at all by me have them for under $150 so I'm left needing some help on what would be some decent ones for the $30 gift price. I'd be paying shipping.

Though if you want more in the way of customization or quality or comfort or not having to deal with a 10 foot cord or anything beyond the best bang for the least buck, there are other things out there. Monoprice have detachable cables but worse sound quality. And most other full closed style headphones worth a damn cost more. If you raise it to $40, the Superlux HD669 is on the table potentially. If you allow semi-open, the other Superlux are on the table.

Thanks, i'll try it on my bro's S3 and other mobile phones.

I'm hunting for a new rom anyway since android 4.4 is a bit too much for my old phone (running cyanogenmod 11) .

Control bar on pistons doesn't work on CM11 also, but it's way easyer and more comfortable to switch songs and volume on the phone and i'm not getting calls without watching who's calling so it's pretty a pretty pointless addon for me, besides the mic wich does work.

Having fun using a OS that dictates when and how you can or should multitask?

You're comparing a 800 bucks phone to a sub 100 bucks phone.

I'm assuming that because any android phone above 100 bucks doesn't lag at all. You could argue storage problems and shitty camera but performance is good and it has actual multitasking.

Iphone performance wise is shit dude, keep your lagdroid meme outside of /g or get BTFO.
