I managed the food thing for a few years where there was a sql error on a local pizza joints site, I changed the address they were sending pizzas someone else ordered a few times.
Tbh I ended up reporting the error because I had gotten scared of what would happen when they found out.

When robotic automation truly begins taking away our jobs in the coming years many of us blue collar workers will be left to accept a basic universal income by either governments or corporations. It seems like socialism is inevitable even though most people will deny it because of what happened during the 20th century's mistakes.

It seems like socialism didn't work in the 20th century because they simply did not have the technology to sustain such a society properly. Nowadays we have powerful tools of communication and recording our environment, thus makes corrupt governments less likely to wipe us out.

Housing will also have to dramatically change where small 300 square foot compartments that can be stacked and mass produced via 3-D printing thus making it extremely cheap to afford. Imagine getting a $1,000 a month and housing is only $250 for rent. Energy will be free because of solar panels, and water will be recycled within each housing complex.

Food will be grown locally in massive hydroponic facilities where all food is 100% pure and organic, and since it's grown 24/7 365 it'll be very cheap to afford.

Cars will be automated thus allowing for most people to never having to own a vehicle. They'll pick you up and then drop you off in constant circulation with everyone else.

Yup.

>What do you think about the internet of things?
I think it's inevitably going to happen regardless of what we want. There is always efficiency to be gained from having more data and interconnecting even mundane objects. Even today, there are tons of automatic doors, cameras, all sorts of information is gathered and can be used to reduce losses. E.a. information from from a sensor on such a door can be used to regulate a building's air conditioning. Light sensors either on rooftop solar arrays or on windows can be used to lower or raise window shades to get optimal internal light and temperature.

What I wish could happen with this is that someone makes a universal and open standard, with which tinkerers and lone hobbyists could play. From products already on the market I see all producers trying to push their own locked-down proprietary standards that don't work with devices not made by said producer.

lol no

Socialism didn't work in the 20th century because it wasn't actual socialism, it was just "give me more free shit in exchange for nothing." It still won't work in the future because someone is having to produce that free shit and corporations aren't going to want to be generous and just give it away.

Imagine getting a $1,000 a month and housing is only $250 for rent
That seems possible
> Energy will be free because of solar panels, and water will be recycled within each housing complex.

Food will be grown locally in massive hydroponic facilities where all food is 100% pure and organic, and since it's grown 24/7 365 it'll be very cheap to afford.
This just seems like an idealistic unfounded jump.

What is likely is that people will go further into debt just to pay for necessities and any "free" stuff they get will cost them their freedom.

Second, because there is no incentive to work, socialism wouldn't.
> When robotic automation truly begins taking away our jobs in the coming years many of us blue collar workers will be left to accept a basic universal income by either governments or corporations. Yeah, no.
Any place where you have to implement machines like that is not a place where rent is only going to cost $250 or the equivalent of such in a long period of time.
If you make only $1000 a month and live in a shitty 3D printed house without any proper insulation or any of that other good shit, then you're going to be paying out the ass for using an A/C.

What you're describing isn't socialism, but communism, and communism won't as long as there are people who want an unequal society and have the power the ensure and people who don't care as long as they're fed and sedated.

Nope.
One of the founding principles of macroeconomics is supply and demand.
The y-axis is price.
The x-axis is quantity demanded.
Let's say there's a graph like pic related.
If the price is low let's say 0, then the quantity demanded is high, and nobody wants to produce shit nobody's gonna pay for.
Demand is what the people want, and it stays on the curve.
Now, if you know anything about economics, what do you think would happen?

When entire means of production are automated, the price might as well be at zero as the cost of producing will no longer coincide with demand; this is one of the sole reasons why you see some people advocating for a basic income. Online, companies have no problem meeting demand for digital goods because the cost of producing and distributing said goods has more or less plateaued since the perforation of broadband internet; this is why advertising (or privatized surveillance) has become the internet's business model. Yet where companies effortlessly handle supply and demand online, they struggle with creating incentives for consumers to actually consume. Convenience is king in the information age; were it not for netflix and spotify people would likely be pirating media just as much as you and I presumably do.

This occurrence is speculated to carry over into meatspace over these next couple decades; we'll likely see governments and corporations alike create artificial barriers to maintain the illusion of control but they'll cave eventually. It creates a shortage.
If some faggot gives out ice cream for free, then I'm going to take as much ice cream I can while still receiving marginal benefits.
There also isn't going to be many faggots giving out free ice cream.
Software and digital goods are NOT tangible items (for me, anyways), and are NOT scarce. Unlimited copies can be made and distributed with ease, which is why they can be free.
Tangible items ARE scarce. They can not be made and distributed with ease. They require infrastructure to produce, trucks to ship, and money to cover the costs.

Not a fucking chance.
Even with a free fucking infrastructure, costs would not be zero. For a multi-billion dollar company equivalent, they would be incredibly high if they had any substantial degree of automation.
You need utilities to power those machines, and with that many machines, that could drive up costs to millions or billions of dollars.
Nothing is more efficient than a human, when all is said and done.
They buy the products, it gives us money to make new products and create new infrastructure to make new products, the cycle repeats. Things only get fucked when the cost of the product is 0.

When the cost of the product is zero, then the quality of the product is going to go down as companies try to find effective substitutes.
Because they don't gain anything from it, they're not going to invest anything into it. Stagnation at it's finest.

Macroeconomics is not based on wants, as wants are unlimited. It focuses on needs, and how to make as many people as possible obtain those needs.
In a post-scarcity economy, the needs may be met, but the wants will never be met.

Also, from your source:
> Population growth, if it continued long enough, would lead to unavoidable scarcity. As pointed out by Thomas Robert Malthus, Paul R. Ehrlich, Albert Allen Bartlett, and others, exponential growth in human population has the capacity to overwhelm any finite supply of resources, even the entire known universe, in a remarkably short time. For example, if the human population continued to grow indefinitely at its 1994 rate, in 1,900 years the mass of the human population would equal the mass of Earth.[4]
Population growth = needs for more infrastructure
more infrastructure = more costs

> consumerist
> Consumerism as a social and economic order and ideology encourages the acquisition of goods and services in ever-increasing amounts.
> if the cost is zero, then the quantity demanded is high.
And what do you think will change? Nothing.

> Yep, but prices will drop if this economy survives at all, or they will not matter if we evolve as a species and stop living for revenue.
They're never going to drop enough for a system like socialism to ever work.

> Yes again, but basic infrastructures are already financed by society (public services) and in the future, when task automation will have become essential to the progress of the human race, it will be publicly financed, too.
But when society is a bunch of lazy shits, then who's going to get shit done?

hummingboard is a raspberry pi alternative, single board computer aimed at power user since the original pi has very very modest resources, there is this as an alternative

basically its a really really beefy version of raspberry pi

possible applications:

>torrent seedbox
>hosting your own email/website/ftp
>NAS
>air-gapping your pc with it
>classic idea of having a media server/smart tv
>phishing automated
>wardriving
>advanced home electronics (all the lightswitches at your palm/ssh, so you never leave the oven on again)
>mail box notification
>doorbell notification, play custom doorbell sounds, mute doorbell
>window, door switches, motion detection, light detection, smoke detection
>control relays, open/close garage door, control outlets
>rgb led strip control (cool stock market like moving info bar)
>buy a cheap remote control car and hotwire one to the servos and motor to control it or make a robot
>automated garden watering system
>weather station
>hosting RSS (so you can tell friends/gf to get you something or there is a party tonight, or anything worth sharing, basically social netwqorking without the botnet)

this is semi pasta I collected the ideas from yesterdays rpi thread

definitely. though Id say its even a bit overkill for that (if you normally have 400000tabs open like me I'd consider a NUC)
If you are only gonna do "light web browsing" say 2-3tabs open max than a banana pi is sufficient enough (dual core ARMv7 1gigs of ram and instead of $150-200 the banana is $36)

Nah

The future is consists of people who have the automation tech and all the money, and dole it out to the proles who have nothing, to keep them shut up, but they'll call it basic income. You'll be at full mercy of your corporate government overlords, left to toil away with your pointless existence.

Why do people think basic income will be awesome? it will be just like being poor, only you have given up your last channel of control over your life. Then you'll truly be enslaved. Why do people what an easy life?

short: yes
more detailed: there is a cheaper solution, since banana pi at lowest I've seen it still was $36 bucks. but youdont need that dual core cpu for a seedbox, what more you dont even need that 1gig of ram, which simply means you can go with cheaper hardware: orange pi ($15 not a cent more) which can be found here

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Orange-Pi-PC-linux-and-android-mini-PC-Beyond-Raspberry-Pi-2/32448079125.html

although if you are not in a hurry (mean you can wait until december) you can get C.H.I.P a $9 version of these fuckers nine fucking dollars..... though not available yet

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1598272670/chip-the-worlds-first-9-computer/description

also some more on banana pi vs orange pi
banana has onboard SATA (while the orange doesnt) the thing I wanna say here, pick the orange of you can pick a SATA to USB converter and(!) powered USB hub cheaper than the banana pi would cost. since the orange has no powered USB (though there is this thing Power-over-Ethernet, PoE, but havent looked into it if you could power up an HDD in this way)

also in general do your research before buying

>> No.50286875

>>50286615
no, PoE is usually used for switches and the like (thats where I've seen it used)

>> No.50286975

>>50286875
it is set then, you need external powered USB hud for the orange pi and sata to usb converters as well, all this because regular internal HSDDs tend to be cheaper than external ones which come with usb though if you have a good source use it most certainly
