My employer has a policy against using anything else than C#, .net, powershell etc.

I feel in some cases other tools, like python or R might deliver results quicker, but i get the ”no, you are not allowed to release your code because we cannot maintain it”.

Maybe im not fully aware of the reasons for being this narrow minded, but maybe it can save money as management only need to recruit one type of developer. On the other hand, not using the best tool for the job seems a bit retarded to me.

Should i keep working at this place?

>tfw can proudly show off a desktop to normies that stands shoulder to shoulder with Windows and macOS

I've waited so long for a modern but traditional DE that is stable, full of features and modern looking. Usually you can only get two out of three.

>be me
>current year is 2017
>still using an AMD Phenom II X4
>it does everything I need it to do just fine

The only regret I had with this purchase was when I realised that a certain MMORPG game I played a lot at the time worked like ass on AMD CPUs. It was literally so bad that I have seen no performance increase coming from a 1,8GHz Core 2 Duo to a 3,6GHz Phenom II X4 there (and no, that game was 90% CPU-bound). The korean codemonkey "devs" of said game never bothered to do anything about this.
This was by no means AMD's fault. Everything else is performing excellently.

I am considering Debian for the stability, nothing else. Thanks for the advice though, anon.

>I'm sorry if the truth hurts your feelings.

What a crazy world you live in anon. I am jealous that things are so clear cut for everyone in it. Interesting ideas though, I would have never considered that everyone would have a family by 30.

You must be a joy to work with/at parties.
