>install xubuntu
>think it's xfce, so it should drain the battery much slower
>it's literally the opposite compared to windows 10
why is that?

This smells like a pajeet post (I say this as a pajeet in the US).

Anyways, I've had no problems with Linux but I don't do this GUI bullshit. All my synthesis and verification etc. are done with scripts (usually tcl for Xilinx).

I'm not sure what you mean by best laptop. Synthesis algorithms usually use some variant of simulated annealing and graph cuts for optimization. Most solutions don't benefit much from parallelization (see Boykov for an excellent single-core implementation) and so you're better off getting a system with good single-core performance. Generally the free software doesn't give you multicore support anyways.

Just curious about /g/'s habits. Is there something you like to snack on or drink? Do you have a certain breakfast or caffeinated drink before starting the day? Do you have any oral incantations for an arcane logic god? Professional or casual programmers, doesn't matter.

When turning my computer on, it immediately turns to a black screen on startup before I even get a chance to get to the login screen. When turning it on, I see the ASRock logo briefly, then it's just black.

Every single solution I've found online isn't possible for me because I literally can't do anything. I can't ctrl alt del, open cmd, or boot up in safe mode. I've tried unplugging everything and it still stays black the moment I turn it on.

My computer was fine yesterday. This happened completely out of the blue. Any other solutions that don't involve navigating Windows?

What does /tpg/ think about the X1? I just received one for work and think it's a pretty good business laptop; does seem to be a little underpowered.
