>Have MSI GAYMEN board for my build
>wont run Prime95 stable at 4.4GHz even with 1.45v
>Get chinky looking 990FXA-UD3
>the motherfucker does 4.5GHz at 1.4V because the LLC is beautiful on it
Gaymen gear is cancer, that's why alot of the inexpensive RYZEN boards are terrible, the days of an 8+2 phase mobo for cheap are gone, all the money is going into faggy shrouds and lights.

What board did you have? becauseI had the same 8350 in an MSI board with 6 phase power and no LLC and 1.45 would not get 4.4GHz stable and temps were getting out of hand, and I had the same PSU and other components, all I changed was putting a UD3 in and it clocked amazing because of that medium load line calibration. That's why I love the UD3 rev 4 so much, because most people who have crappy VRM boards like I was using would think FX can't OC for shit.

>MSI AM3+ mobo
>FX CPU
>Hyper TX3
I actually had a similar setup, and it's a bitch to cool that because the boards VRM is terrible and you need to crank the vcore way up to get a good oc since the board doesn't have LLC either.

>I don't think any motherboard does that by default
Kek, my MSI 990FX was really shitty and would turbo to 1.448v, and it's oc genies 4.2GHz with 1.384 vcore setting was easily over 125w because my Hyper TX3 was hitting 65C.

Shame how MSI pretty much gave up on am3+ and replaced the GD80 with a 990FXA gaming that only has a 6 phase VRM.

I replaced it with a Gigabyte.

You're just not a cocksucker Anon, and I don't understand why people try to sell boards and cards for insane prices when it's not gonna sell. I remember selling my MSI 990FXA gaming board during the mining craze of early '18 for $100 and it sold within a few hours because the prices were so inflated.

What voltage were you running? the stock vcore of an FX8370 is 1.35v and some boards like my old MSI board liked to use 1.448v to get its little oc genie's 4.2GHz bullshit and my CPU was hitting 70c+.

That's actually a really good use for an FX processor, the AM3+ platform has great io.

>>68042859
That's weird it would be spitting out heat like crazy, cause I don't even feel it going from a 95w Q6600 CPU to 125w or more when it's overclocked.

I even had shittier cooling than my Hyper T4 and never had problems.

Even the 990FXA GAMING they made was fucking terrible, they put a 6+2 phase VRM on the board, claim it can run a 9590, and charge $140 for it.

Yeah the VRM is everything with FX, I had an MSI 6+2 phase gaming board, and it was hitting 4.2GHz at 1.38v, while my UD3 hits 4.4GHz on 1.38v on the exact same chip.

That's a good board, the 6+2 phase VRM on that is good for a 970 but the 990FX gaming they made with the same VRM was straight garbage.

This board makes no sense but it did work and I liked the bios, it was also refurbished which was kinda scary.

I run my rear fan through the 8 pin cpu hole and to the pwr fan connector up front, and don't even use the front fan for less dust buildup on the front, and my io connectors are just kinda thrown there

My rig is shit but the 300R prevented it from being really shit.

The worst ones are those red and black msi boards with shitty ass VRMs, I had to change boards because it was so bad, bastard needed 1.384v as it's default vcore just to achieve 4.2GHz when my gigabyte drops to 1.308 under load at 4.2 and runs fine.

These chips have always had broken temp reading when cool n quiet is on, when I disable all that stuff, it'll report like 25-29C, which is proper.

It does make for an entertaining speccy. my cooling isn't that great.
