Which distro would you recommend that's lightweight, has huge library of compatible programs, and doesn't have gimicky bloatware? Do you have any recommendations? And don't you dare say gentoo.

Does there exist a good note taking program for Linux?

Also is it possible to get multi touch gestures to work on Linux so you can scroll by moving two fingers or pinch to zoom?

Really makes me think.

I just did one linux online class.

And I found the possibility of installing every program from a single command line very useful.

SUDO APT-GET INSTALL XYZ

How come you can't do this on windows?

Hi /g/uys, I am currently looking to switch from windows to linux and have tried a few of the "commercial" flavors like ubuntu, debian and mint, but I am looking for something more clean. I'm sure you can configure it out of one of these, but I am looking for a bare bones OS. No mini game packages or anything like it. Just linux as is. Any help appreciated, thanks.

Okay children, exam is now starting. Here are the questions, good luck.

(1) What programs do you have installed on your linux/gnu desktop?

(2) Which editor / IDE is your favorite on linux/gnu?

>shitty drivers
>no games
>buggy as fuck
>take longer to boot than Windows
>autistic community
>as secure as Windows
>have to remember commands to use it
>no software (solidworks, flstudio... etc)
>fixing simple problems is a nightmare
>dosent support secure boot
>some printers/hardware are not supported

Is there a reason to use this piece of shit?

What's a good, free VPN client for Linux? Everything on Google is absolute trash. I don't want to waste money on it because it's for one thing only. I don't need it for all of my internet traffic.

On Windows, I just use OpenVPN since it's free, but I can't find a free client for Linux.
