Have you just tried airing it out? Otherwise, you might you can hand-wash the whole thing and then just let it air dry (with no/minimal sun and in a well-ventilated space) and then condition the leather again if it looks dry.

Fragrance (and beauty in general) isn't a very "avant garde" industry because you make your profits by selling large volumes. You have older perfumery houses that sell more expensive formulations, but there's aren't nearly as manly straight up "experimental" fragrances in the same vein as you'd find in clothing. CdG is a notable exception as are lines like Six Scents, Etat Libre d'Orange, and Blood Concept, but given that most perfumes are the products of large corporations like L'Oreal and Coty, it's just not as feasible to produce tiny, niche weirdo scents.

Grenson? A bit above average, but just needs to be worn well to count for anything.

Well, bombers are, by definition, meant to cut up since they, historically, needed to not be in your way when you sat down (i.e. in a cockpit). Perhaps you might want to just try a slightly different silhouette/style?

Are you looking for that bulkier, almost surplus-style fit?

It's a pretty common finishing for jersey pieces. No functional value, but it does show a certain attentiveness to detail.

Enh. I don't know if hickory stripe PLUS cargo pockets PLUS knee length is a great idea. These could use a touch more tailoring, but they're easy and doable.

Seems like they have a shorter model at 7" they call the Baxter, too.

I meant things like shopping from a vintage store online or on eBay, in comparison to shopping at a local vintage/thrift store.

This is so "meh" for me.. The padded body and the slightly too-big shoulder don't work in those proportions, especially with the waist cinched a bit like that.

I think the other anon and I were just discussing the costs associated with buying from eBay and other online sources—packaging, shipping (fuel), and for stores things like warehousing/logisitcs.

Did you do this without an overlock/serger? If so, that's well done.

Someone better versed in this could do the math, but given that UPS likely delivers to where MOST folks live anyway, adding another package into a UPS batch is probably more efficient than expending fuel just to drive to a store where they might not even have what you want.

A very good point, but it's not an option for everybody if they don't have access to well-stocked, expansive thrift stores and consignment shops. eBay and such is a bit better, but there are shipping costs, which negates the resource savings of local shopping as you suggested.

Try looking at the active-minded offerings from contemporary brands. Lots of folks are doing it now given the huge gains in the active/lifestyle market. Theory's launched Theory 38 pretty recently, Nike's always blurred the lines with products like Nike NSW (and the higher end White Label stuff), and there are brands like ISAORA and others that are built entirely around activewear/technical wear re-purposed or tweaked for everyday use.

There are TONS of brands that make use of practices like computer-aided patternmarking for low waste cutting, low/no water/heat dyes, organic materials, fair trade labor, and so on. Is there something in particular that you were looking for in a clothing company's practices/products?

If you have a tailor your trust, maybe buy two pairs of slacks at a thrift store and have him frankenstein them together for you?

Trying to please everyone usually results in pleasing no one. But the joy of threads like this is that anybody can post a parka and spur more discussion.
