I mean whatever you think is practical - those wolverines look like they'd be alright on ice/snow new but the sole will likely wear out fast.

Yes, she did actually pass away. I wasn't in London or Toronto at the time - and I hadn't spoke to her for around 3 months.
People were very torn up about it - myself included; watch out for your friends, folks.

Effay used to be a whole lot more like /soc/. But it never had just one "culture;" there has always been conflict.

I used to be around here around 5 years ago; I don't recognize much when I stop in, but should I? Online communities develop, fall apart slowly, then hopefully are recreated.

How intense of a winter are we talking? Icy streets and deep snow? Or just a bit snowy here and there?

You will look like an idiot if you're slipping all the time. Get some insulated boots with good treads from an outdoor shop; you can usually find some that look half decent.

They're not /fa/, but I've used these boots for a couple years now for cold days in Montreal; my feet sweat they're so warm.

This. Just make sure to get a proper hub/wheelset - don't use a "suicide" or converted hub.

Riding fixed does have some other tangible benefits: the added traction helps with very wet or snowy conditions, and with practice you don't have to take your feet out of your pedals when stopping.

The stiffness is a good feel! You'll break them in soon.

Last pair I bought (~3 years ago) started to wear out super quickly, much faster than before. The quality certainly has gone down - watch out for tearing the back pockets if you have a thick wallet.

Montreal here. Sup?

Don't wear CG, you will look like a banker / international student. Buy a practical, insulated arcterix, Fjallraven, or other technical jacket from Altitude (on st. denis). Pajar is also notable because their jackets are made in the city. Also MEC is generally awesome in terms of affordability and practicality.

It being a windproof shell is more important than it being heavily insulated; buy a nice fleece to go underneath if you feel it isn't warm enough.

Give as few fucks as possible about how the jacket looks. Also buy some nice warm boots.
