You always assume that there might be a portion of your items that need to be marked down and sold at a loss; that's just a basic reality of retail. But those aren't the majority of your sales and it is just factored into the cost of doing business.

Probably a satin/sateen of some sort.

TNF Purple Label, White Mountaineering, ISAORA, and etc. are more design oriented. The one in your photo is awful, but it could be much more modern.

Depends on what you're talking about. They make a lot of stuff.

Ignorance is bliss, I guess. But I would also say that overconfidence stops you from growing or developing into a more mature person.

Best thing in my mind is the t-shirts. A perfect encapsulation of how he applies his aesthetic to someone that should be mundane and elevates it.

Because they're carried at specialty retailers all over the country, both big box and boutique.

If you want thin and soft, try a brand that does lots of washed leathers like Giorgio Brato or Lot78.

Try leaving Union Square for more locals-oriented neighborhoods like Valencia, Hayes Valley, the Castro, Fillmore, etc.

That's pretty nice. It'd be great to do the whole litany in a really interesting typographical design, I think. Then again, I love the mood of the books, so I'm biased.

Tourist shit can be fun. Even I don't get tired of riding a ferry or drinking an Irish coffee or walking to the Presidio. It's good to not let yourself be jaded and to just enjoy yourself.

Posts aren't just read by one person and if even one person gets something out of it, it seems worthwhile to share and discuss. There's a selfish reason, too. Talking about things spurs me to think and read and, if nothing else, helps me articulate how I think and feel about things in my own life/work.

It's probably not a Margom sole, that's all. There are tons if rubber factories out there and it's not like Margom is the only one making a rubber sole for stitched constructions. Also, I imagine that few folks would use an Italian sole and pay to ship it to a Portuguese factory and add more cost when there are plenty of Portuguese rubber suppliers.
