Since your hair is shorter, you'll probably need to look for a tutorial where they don't pin as close to the center. This could work since you're looking to grow it out. Unfortunately, looking at your texture, your hair will be in an awkward growing stage for a while.

Okay I don't actually see any curls. In this case, I'd suggest getting it shorter on the sides because it kind of goes everywhere but then you don't have curls so it's a little awkward. Was your hair like this before you used relaxer? Do you mind if I ask what you're mixed with? Your hair looks similar to a friend of mine who is Japanese and black but I'm not sure if that's because of the relaxer or not.

Okay. I wouldn't waste money on a weave if your hair isn't very damaged from permanent relaxers ie don't bother with one unless you absolutely need it. Until your hair is longer you can do stuff like pic related and as long as you keep your hair well moisturized it'll look good. As far as keeping it moisturized, you don't want it to actually look wet because then you'll look like a chola. Cantu makes a really good leave-in conditioner and that's all you really need. I use it with random shampoos (I don't pay attention to the brand much) and it keeps my hair moisturized and I have a LOT of hair.

For the basics, you should only really be combing through your hair while it's wet. Shampoo 1-2 times a week, you don't need to do it more. I don't even wet my hair unless I'm washing it, but there are some people who cowash or wash with vinegar so stick around and ask them. I'd also suggest waiting around and hearing some of the guys' routines since their hair length is probably closer to yours than mine is.
