Fuck, son, you can easily sit there and pull hair to the side at a cowlick and find skin. Same way girls' scalp is exposed when they comb in a part. It's not exactly the sign of balding by itself, especially considering you appear to have relatively fine hair anyway.

I'm so bored of my hair recently. Bascially I just have an undercut, but I just let it fall to the side so it just hangs down. Its shorter towards the back of the long/top part, so when it falls down, its like I have a "I'd like to speak to the manager haircut" but only on half of my head.

I would say that a manbun would probably suffer a bit from layering depending on how long your hair is and how long the longest layers are.

Regular long hair is starting to come back, so layers would be pretty good for making that look healthy.

I'm 21 and my hairline is receding, but I haven't noticed any thinning, so I imagine I'll just have a high mature hairline like my older brother, who appears to have had no change since his receded at the same age, and he's 26 now.

Because I'm of the belief that someone's eyes play a fairly large part in these things. Haircuts generally look a lot better if they work well with one's eyes. It's hard to say how, but they just do. In my opinion, anyway. It's harder to judge someone's haircut or pick out one that'll suit them if they cover them up.

Basically, the hair on the side of my head is curly, and the hair on the top is straight or at least falls flat-ish.

I'm sort of losing my hair so I tend to pull everything forward, but the curls spring out and it looks fucking retarded unless I brush them flat which doesn't look great either after 2 hours.

My hair on top is thin but I've been using minoxidil for a few months and it definitely is getting thicker.

I wanted to grow my hair out so even if it's thinning I'd have more options for styles, but with the retarded curls on the sides it's driving me crazy

I don't think longer styles are completely out of the question, it depends on how much you have left on top. A rule of thumb for receding hair would be shorter is better though, as longer hair can tend to draw attention to it unless a lot of effort is put in to maintain a style.
