This is a fair sentiment, but you might want to consider that there's a certain amount of aspiration in dressing. It's why we tell people to dress for the job they want. How you present yourself can be a way to tap into other aspects of your self, to find new stores of confidence, to become a new person in a new context. I agree that using clothing to obscure yourself is silly, but I think there's a lot of middle ground in this.

I think you're confusing style with fashion, anon. Style has a lot to do with the sense of life you exude and your animation, whereas fashion has more to do with trends, being tricked into shelling out for absurdly over-priced consumer goods, attempting to manipulate your perceived social status, seeking approval of others doing the same thing, etc., etc. and such like. But on the other hand, this board IS okay for finding the names of specific brands and shit like that.

Keep in mind that "yourself" for a lot of 4chan posters results in shit like anime-themed t-shirts, Yesstyle bullshit, and weird attempts to dress "classy."

It is totally true, though, that you can't cram yourself into clothing that doesn't match you. I'd look like a goddamn clown dressing anything remotely like what most people go for on here, and that's not an indictment of their taste, just a reflection of how that style fits only certain people.
