Why isn't this a thing? We've got shitty clothing that people spend so much money on that's all "SWAG" related and "Gangsta". Why can't we have some armoured people? Not talking steam punk, talking armour. Leather, plated, scale, chain, etc. Why can't we see some casual or classy clothes with armour combined in it? Would look a hell of a lot better than someone with two pairs of pants so they can have one sag.

There aren't really any brand names for armor so it's not as much of an status piece as a designer garment. Being expensive also prevents it from being a thing as it means there won't be a sudden wave of people wearing it to make it seem normal.

helmut lang used protective elements in some of his collections, so that might be worth your time (might be in a different vein to what you're thinking entirely though. never seen the chain/scale stuff on the market but there's stylists in possession of some of it so it's out there somewhere. there's also fw99 which combined protective functions and elements of articulation from biker gear and astronaut suits to create some really incredible clothing.

but like everyone has already said
it's entirely impractical, heavy, loud, guady, gauche, expensive
it's also especially unlikely when again people are beginning to move towards more practical options
and you will look like a LARPer

Armor is meant to be used for war. There aren't any wars where melee weapons are used. So the type of armor you are talking about is useless. Maybe something like this would work.

There are designers who pull ideas from the concepts of armour / ancient military wear. But straight armour is going to look like dress up unless taken in a very odd direction.

Gareth Pugh obviously quite famously did this, but most consider these works unwearable in regular fashion since they cross so heavily into wearable art.

Nor is there any reason to layer leather or other material to get a padded look, that might incidentally look kind of armoured.
But to look at the current fashion industry and get offended and up in arms and say 'they have swag, which I hate, but why isn't there any ARMOUR?!' Something so weirdly specific like that, is just sad.

Other interesting pieces shown, like

Look more like rustic, heavy pieces of jewellery.

If some people are looking to armour in clothing for actual protective value, that's all the more sad. This medieval inspired horseshit then becomes the sort of trash as what pasty knife enthusiasts pour over; when they buy a knife for the ease with which they could cut someone's throat, if they ever dared to leave their basement.

Ugh. This sickens me tbh.
