I'll humor you since you don't seem to be simply trolling:

1) It's important to be able to appreciate other viewpoints, even if you don't like them. For example, I obviously wouldn't wear Rick Owens, but that doesn't mean I have to insult people who do wear it.

2) There are many people who appreciate Hood By Air, including those high up in the fashion world. They did a runway show in Milan recently, and their clothes are sold worldwide alongside brands like Saint Laurent and Maison Margiela. I'm not saying that it's comparable to respected fashion houses like them (it isn't, by far), but you should still ask yourself why it has excelled where so many other streetwear brands "printing [their] logos on long black shirts" have failed.

3) Fashion has always been a status symbol.

Society *does* look down on you based on how you dress.

While Nike and Adidas are acceptable brands at younger ages, and even into high school sometimes, you will be looked down once you enter adulthood for not having the sophistication for better designed clothing.

While I'm sure the stigma is different if one comes from a lower socioeconomic class, it still applies for most people.

I believe that everyone has the ability to appreciate beauty and art; some people only need a little nudge in the right direction to start appreciating what is really beautiful in life.

While you're right that branding and price don't influence a garment's artistic value, I'd like to raise the following points:

1) Nike and Adidas primarily focus on athletic goods, not fashion,

2) Fashion-forward brands are likelier to produce good pieces.

3) They may be able to solicit a higher price because they use higher priced materials or craftsmanship in production.

4) They may also be able to solicit a higher price because of the demand for their designs that cannot be found elsewhere.

A Givenchy sweater is likely to be better than one by GAP, from an artistic perspective (and it'll definitely be more expensive). This isn't to say that GAP is bad - you can still find nice clothes, only it is less likely because of the reasons stated above.

Brands like Dior seek to serve a very different market than brands like Adidas. Although there may be some interlap, one appeals to those who appreciate beauty and pushing the limits of art, and the other serves a more functional purpose: clothing the masses.

Is it important for adults to appreciate art? I would say yes.
