When do internet-fanboi designer name brands like CP and Margiela go on sale during the year, and where can I find good deals (stores, websites) usually?

I do have the money to throw down but common sense dictates that I'd rather wait and get a pair of CP sneakers for ~200-300 instead of $400, you know?

christ i hate those cps man. i'm sure the quality is up to par and everything but the shape just screams "cheap vans", such a waste.

Living in New York City, CPs for $200 is like finding a pair of Vans in the Vans store

i feel you bruhbruh but the high-polish derbies they make are my favorite shoe ever and I want to cop a pair for work/grad school. Only problem is that they cost $500 USD now whereas I've been reading people talking about how they got em for ~$350.

I can't stress enough to check thrift stores like Tokio7/TokioJoe in the east village. I've gotten my Achilles from there for $150. Used but in like 9/10 condition

how horrible? I know they're going to crease but the fact that they are so stain resistant and able to be re-soled makes me feel like they'd last me forever.

anyway, what are some alternatives you'd rec?

you should get different CPs if you want CPs or different derbies if you want derbies. the CP derbies are some of the worst CP shoes. the leather is stiff and creases poorly

there's no particularly worn pair in ebay's sold history but they seriously look like this even after one wear.. check out pairs that people have tried on and they already have really nasty creasing

the leather wrinkles in very particular places, sometimes breaks. it's similar to patent leather in that it has some kind of plasticy coating.

if you have the dosh just go for guidis, if not just grab some doc 1461s.

ouch...thanks for the constructive post, bro. I'll keep looking for a better derby :)

did u even read the sticky. did u even google "when are sales?"

tbh it depends store to store. larger stores have year-round sales, but they're also stores less likely to carry CP or MMM.

the best sales are in jan-feb and august-october
