I got waitlisted at Princeton and Columbia so I was choosing between Brown, Dartmouth, and Yale. I got rejected from Harvard and never applied to Cornell or Penn.

Fairly certain I only got into Yale based on a triple legacy and no other reason. I did not try my Freshman year at all. I did apply and get into other schools that weren't Ivies, but they aren't that big of a deal.

join a frat or sports team or you'll be bored to death. It's a very insular campus, there's only 4 bars in the whole city, and unless you're a huge history nut like me Colonial Williamsburg gets boring fast.

Also exploring the woods behind lake matoaka is fun, try shroom hunting through there in the Fall.

I grew up in southern california before moving to colorado for school. First lived in Huntington Beach, then LA, then moved back to OC and lived in Newport Beach. The weather and beaches are nice but they don't outweigh the ridiculous expense of living there as well as the snobby, unfreindly demeanor most people have in those places.

been here about a year and a half. Spent most of my time in boulder/denver area and a lot of weekends in breckenridge and vale snowboarding. In Boulder/Denver the people are generally a lot nicer. Only bad thing i can think of is there are panhandlers who reek of pot everywhere. Still nothing compared to the hardcore gangs and crime in socal.

Like the other guy said, Greek life has a pretty big presence on campus; the outskirts of campus are lined with them. That said, a lot of people in Greek life are kind of shitty from what I've seen (and heard from everybody). It's also going to suck if your parents aren't paying for your college experience.

The campus radio group is kinda hipster and pretentious, but interesting if you're into /mu/-core stuff. There's a "fashion" club that does some photoshoots and issues really bad magazines; you could join and try to fix it. Honestly I recommend joining some very casual clubs, and finding a close friend group you can go to Richmond/VA Beach with frequently. Whatever you do, don't fall into the trap of going to "the bars" every night.
