Yeah, I went a saw an exhibition here in Brisbane called Future Beauty all about Japanese fashion. There was a kimono that I think was by Yohji that was by far my favourite piece there. Searching for it now, anyone know what I'm talking about?

why not make one? this is essentially a deconstructed cardigan with a flat shawl collar made out of shirting broadcloth. not the most technical sewing project--beginner really.

you could easily make this from less than $50 of material and a dozen hours. way better than paying 800 dollars because it says visvim

Imo the only visvims sort of worth getting/drooling over are the boro ones, patchwork is dope. There are tonnes of labels that try to do kimonos and/or noragis. Also proper kimonos cost money, its almost the equivalent of a suit in some circles. Construction wise for a basic mono one is as you say tho.

filmed on state street, there is an indian store that sells what that guy is wearing, and I'm fairly sure he's affiliated with it.

has some retard tier name like namaste or something, and I doubt it's online. It's literally a block away from where this is filmed in the direction he comes walking from.

any Santa Barbara anons might wanna cop, I only know of this store because my mom shops there a lot, and I got a weird bowl from there that makes a cool and calming noise.

>>9807267
well of course it is it will take much longer though and the result will be somewhat different because the stitches will be uneven and denim is a thick fabric, howeve if you do attempt this make it easier on yourself and buy some sashiko needles they are longer and are made to work with hick fabric if u cannot find sashiko needles look for apholstery needles and use cotton chord as thread i reccomend olypus crochet threads they are heavy duty and give it that homestyle look
pic related it is my freehand sashiko

Not a kimono

>> No.9807304

>>9801762
not a true kimono though
kimono designs are hand painted
kimonos are silk
kimonos are meant to be taken apart to be washed (more extravagant kimonos such as thos with gold leaf are never meant to be washed) then dry as separate pieces then sewn back together by hand

also one more thing i highly reccomend buying pinking shears or scalloped shears if you are going to do this by hand to minimize fraying on the unfinished seams
