I was thinking of getting thin wire frame ones but I don't know if it would work. I have an oval face. I know basically fuck all about fashion and need help to be effay.

Then you're after the Oliver People's Peck. However, if your face is as round and heavy-set as you describe, that would not be the best fit. Peck has a relatively round face but with a slightly squared off jaw, making the circular lens a good balance.

What does /fa/ think of these? I'm needing glasses for the first time in my life (I'm 26 fairly soon). These were the first pair which jumped out at me in the opticians (I think I tried on nearly every pair which wouldn't make me look like a serial killer/molester of some kind).

I have an oval face with quite a defined jaw/cheek line and a squareish top half to my head (but I'd still say more oval than anything else).

Also is black or tortoiseshell more versatile? I wear a lot of black/grey/white but I still feel the tortoiseshell would be a better fit. I've got dark brown hair and dark brown eyes if that helps.

Check this place out. They have a wide variety of styles and they are actually pretty great quality. With prescription, most of the frames will cost around $60.
It's also a good way to try out a different style of frame without blowing a ton of money on something you may end up hating.
You need to know your prescription and pupillary distance though

it's much harder than the Canadian public school curriculum

it has high expectations (for example you have to _actually learn_ a 2nd language to graduate iirc) but it produces students with excellent work ethic/academic skills and also social consciousness.
it's internationally recognized obviously, so it's probably one of the best school systems in the world

I wouldn't necessarily call that "brainwashing." From an early age, it teaches the importance of being a conscientious global citizen, which is very relevant when you consider the type of student who attends an IB school.

As far as learning goes, it's very tough as far as I know. I go to a public school here in Canada now, but the IB exams are hell from what I've heard.

I know this applies to many Western school curriculums as well, but IB focuses on critical thinking skills more than the rote memorization that some Asian countries' curriculums have.

I have no idea what US schools are like, but I think it's the same thing here too. Imo school curriculums don't matter that much; your own desire and ability to learn is much more important.
