So, not the guy who created jewelwave, but someone who dumps every thread here.

I've been thinking about how this trend can/should work, and I've had some more ideas.

the colors need to be vibrant, but DEEP.
for example:

look at those tones. they're easy to mix with colors that aren't inherently complementary, but analogous, because the colors are vibrant and rich.

So it's not just a simple, "use colors that are side by side on the color wheel instead of opposite". there's a method to the madness

Now, have we decided that jewelwave is only the colorscheme?
or is fit a factor as well?

I think this is pretty much spot on. There needs to be room for some pop/rock too, but it's hard to pin down what specificaly makes a pop song jewel. Pianos and maybe saxophones might be important, but it has to have the right vibe.

I feel this is a perfect example of vaporwave gone jewelwave. It has sort of a 80's "New York Soundtrack-ish vibe to it that I feel is very jewely. Like... Women in purple wool coats catching yellow cabs in the rain, or family picnics in Central Park in late september 1992. Does that make sense at all?
