Just curious, does what a brand stand for/ how ethical it is effect whether you purchase from it or not?

I personally think that when it comes to brand ethics Patagonia has the best quality gear and they produce it in the most humane and sustainable way.

Patagonia thread? Patagonia thread.

I've seen a lot of people mention the Torrentshell as a solid lightweight coat, but what I'm not seeing is why I wouldn't just buy a lightweight Arcteryx coat instead. What are some of the pluses the Torrentshell has going for it that I'm not seeing? inb4 price, I'm more curious about why the design seems so popular with people.

Patagonia is a more appealing looking brand, slimmer fitting and the ethics of the company are alot better, you know what you are getting is premium quality from reliable and humane sources.

Offers a little more breath ability because of the blend, layers very well with a sweater or any other mid layer, durability is also a key factor and patagonia definitely comes out on top.

I just try and buy from brands that manufacture in first world countries such as Reigning Champ, American Apparel ect. Bought a Go Ruck GR0 a few months back because I liked their brand ethics.

I like to think that my stuff is made by people who get paid a decent wage to make it because I believe that if you get paid good money to make something, you will take more pride in what you're doing. I also like the thought of denying money going to poorer countries because it makes it easier then to exploit them out of natural resources and in the future, I see natural resources being at the very center of a nations success. I want good, decent countries on top. Not a bunch of chinks, spics and niggers.

Also bullshit. Why the fuck would I want dirty 3rd world hands making my jacket when I could get it made by Canadian hands instead?

Even if you are buying LEAF items or Alpha SV jackets which I believe are still manufactured in Burnaby - those hands are mostly Chinese-Canadian.

Arc'teryx produce most of their stuff (70%?) in China and South America now, but suposedly only because of capacity. Their new owners have been branching out and making it mor eavailable (in some parts of the world at least). With production in China there is easyer access to fabrics, machinery, spare parts and skilled labour. Their Chinese factories are said to look exactly like the one in Burnaby all the way down to all the little Chinese hands that makes the clothes.

Latin americans are almost as bad as indians. I fucking hate people from developing countries. They're always such rude cunts. Latin americans and indians are the worst though. Brazilians and argentinians are some of the most stupid people I've ever met while being arrogant. Indians are bad, they're the ugliest and their culture is the worst, but they're not as dumb. Africans are always polite though, probably because the brits used to chop their hands off lmao. I haven't met any west africans though, I've heard their the worst.

I buy apple products because they look sexy, I get girls numbers easier with an iphone, and people with macbook pros tend to look more affluent than some generic dell or asus boring black laptop.

Apple uses child-labor. I paid the corporation for the product that allows me to do my job and get more money and pussy. The corporation pays the children. I don't see how that is "unethical."

Apparently it is, though.

>dang, someone with a post style awful as mine

Dude don't talk ill of the salmon. Creatures have no choice but to continue surviving in the places where people decide to conduct their business, but laborers sign up and work hard to keep their jobs and make money for their families.

Having said that, i agree that companies who pay dirt wages and have garbage work conditions forfeit any moral capital they might have claimed from good environmental practices. And, while it sucks, garment making has been an okay path into the middle class in developing areas. You could boycott patagonia, but then those workers would get 0 of your cents instead of 30
