ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING especially with these Seikos with the sharply faceted edges, you'll round off all the edges and it'll look like shit. Agreed. I'm not a quartz fanatic but I can't help but cringe whenever some WUS snob who has read one too many luxury watch catalogues claim automatic completely outdoes quartz.
The history of quartz is relatively young (30-40 yrs) to be drawn any conclusion from, and yet most automatics, mid luxury ones even, older than that need extensive reservice which sometimes costs as much as the price for that vintage piece.

Best watch for $1,000-$2,000?

>> No.9748789

>>9748772
Common wisdom is that most watches in the $500-$2000 range aren't worth it and aren't much better than cheaper watches. There is some good stuff like Sinn and Damasko in that range though if you like German watches, quartz Grand Seikos sit just under $2000 on a good exchange rate day, and there's lots of other stuff like that. Most Swiss stuff in that range probably won't be worth it though unless you really really like it.

I view buying watches from jewelry houses like Cartier and Chopard similar to buying suits from Burberry and Dunhill, who outsource their cuts and tailoring to Belvest - the price is premium largely because of brand name recognition, not necessarily because of their extraordinary specialties in the products.

On the hand, the calibre de cartier uses an in-house movement so if I were to buy a cartier watch, this would be the choice.

i honestly don't see the appeal that a number of you guys /g/, lawyer bro, watch collection kid

of coming on to /fa/ and telling everyone your blatant knock offs are legitimate watches

i mean the give always are all there, they don't look at all like they are even made from the same metal (one of you had a chrome plated base metal watch saying it was polished stainless) and you just sit there and deny the fact that the tells are tells and then lie about it being some special edition collaboration or w/e nonsense

i mean is your life that empty and do you seriously lack the resources to buy a $3000 date just

where you have to lie about having a fake watch

oh and the 2 of you that claim "high quality fakes"

haha that is the saddest thing i have ever seen

the thing that denotes a high quality fake from a low quality fake is merely the fact that you own it since you spent 40 hours last week luring watchuseek and now claim to be an expert?

fucking sad life man

/g/ seriously dude you're on fucking welfare and you bragged about free state funded cash assitance

dude get your shit together

you brag about ripping off tax payers

No, you're wrong. Miyota movements, by and large, are low quality and unreliable. As a matter of fact, the movements found in Daniel Wellington are Miyota, which attests to the poor quality of Miyota. It is pretty much WalMart brand garbage.
