Karl Lagerfeld is the best person in fashion.

In 1993, he caused U.S. Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour to walk out of his Milan Fashion Week runway show, when he employed strippers and adult-film star Moana Pozzi to model his black-and-white collection for Fendi.

Lagerfeld created an international furore on 9 February 2012, when he called the singer Adele "a little too fat.

"They are fat mummies sitting with their bags of crisps in front of the television, saying that thin models are ugly". In reference to people complaining about skinny models.

"Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life so you bought some sweatpants."

"In France there are, I think, less than 1% of people who are too skinny."
"There are nearly 30% of young people who are too fat. So let's take care of the zillions of the too fat before we talk about the percentage that's left.

Yes, some people say to me you're too skinny, but never a skinny person says that to me, only people who could lose a few pounds say that.

"It would have been difficult to have an ugly daughter."

I agree with everything that he said.

I still think that he's a pompous jackass who should have died 20 years ago.

True, i think i should clarify because my point wasn't very clear
I was talking with regards to their ability/value in their field, of course people deserve to be respected because of their contribution to art whether or not they are still producing at that level

>> No.9654632

>>9654519
Elvis and Monroe arguable died in their primes or at least when they were very relevant
The same argument could be used for others like biggie, 2pac, hendrix and winehouse
Would we still view them in the same esteem if they had lived longer and inevitably put out works which were far below the standard they set in their glory days?

>> No.9654662

>>9654632
Neither Monroe nor Elvis died in their prime. The same could be said about Jackson and Whitney Houston too.
Winehouse did kinda end up putting out work far below her standard when her addiction progressed.

Same with many painters like for example Dali. Even writers.
People will remember the output that had a huge cultural influence even if output of inferior quality is created. Which actually is almost always the case if the being lives a long life.

The point of an image is to break the rules, even if it would look strange or bad on someone normally it makes an image and that is what is important.

Look at elton john and his ridiculous glasses, sure they are silly but they have given him a very recognizable image and this is important
