Can anybody show me what the back of this is supposed to look like?

My top is about 7", my sides are a 2 and the back is about a 3.

I usually use water-based pomade to slick it back, very much like the guy in OP but the back of my head has an extremely sharp contrast in the transition from the long top to the short back hair.

In other words, I feel like I can't blend it well because of its length. I have thin straight Asian hair so that probably makes it a bit harder to blend.

growing out my hair progress.
First pic is after my last haircut at the end of November. Second one is 2 1/2 weeks ago, last two are today.
Waiting for your hair to grow sucks man. I just hope it will end up looking decent at some point, right now it's hard to do stuff with it that doesn't look stupid.
Also started doing no-poo over a month ago and I'm really happy with it.

Can you guys reccomend a decently priced wax or paste or anything for hair modeling?

The issues I have had with pretty much everything I tried is that:
- my hair is really thick and hard to model, so most product don't hold enough and either my hair is loose really quick (sometimes as soon as 15 mins).
- those that hold hair well enough usually dry out really fast, crumble, so I'm left with horrible white powder in my hair
- they hold so well and are really hard to remove that they irritate my hair = dandruff.
- they make my hair look like I bathed in thick broth.

What I've dried so far are mostly the "top" salon hair products from ex. Wella and I'm really open to try something else.

I also think the sidepart in your hair is bad. All of this is my opinion and I don't know what I'd change but I would change all of that. Bottom right pic I like, bottom left it looks like your hair is messed up, top left again is apparent there's a misplaced "poof" and top right you already know how I feel
