why are angles such a big deal?

physical attractiveness is an amazingly fragile variable. camera angles, lenses, etc all slightly alter what would be a natural interpretation of somebody's visual appeal. it's like using google translate to translate something several times and then back to the original language-- something gets lost along the way.

and that's just the technology aspect of it.

it's funny, i used to feel ugly, but i've always gotten a lot of attention from girls. fairly recently i discovered that i actually look really good from slightly below eye level. so, if i'm just keeping my head upright, i look better to people shorter than me, which means most females.

it's pretty interesting.

The best angle for a guy is a very subtle low-angle shot, generally speaking, I think because it implies height, and height implies confidence and strength.

Problem is, it's a rather hard angle to do in photography or movies without it drawing attention to itself.

If you have a shit camera your face will look distorted. It's from the lens being too small, you need like a 80mm lens or higher to get true to life accurate photos.

It's only because you're more used to seeing your mirror image (which is reversed) than your "real" face. Hell, try it right now, mirror any photograph taken of you, you might find yourself more attractive in it. However, people who know you would probably find your face weird in those mirrored pictures.

>80mm
The focal length closest to that of the human eye is 50mm. While longer/higher focal length lenses can be used for portraiture, something between 50-80mm will give you the most natural look.
