designers arent trying to sell you the model. they are trying to sell you the clothes.

clothes show better on a thin person because things like detail show better, it hangs more nicely (like it would on a hanger). while curves are more sexually appealing, they can detract from clothes and curves have to be dressed a certain way-- not all things work on all body types/heights/proportions. when only one body type is needed, it makes things a lot easier.

I agree with OP, but i feel really uncomfortable doing that cause its kinda on a slippery slope where all of a sudden those hot, BMI of ~19 models slowly get chibbier, fatty, and eventually ham planets.

I am absolutely disgusted that people try to argue chunky pigs are 'sexy' and that only real men would be into them, and everyone else is a pedophile who only wants a woman with the body of a 12 year old boy.

Not my choice, I now have a BMI of 25, 12% bodyfat (thank you, /fit/). But still, a choice.

Example: My grandpas were friends with a morbidly obese german couple. They had experienced starvation as children. And decided that they'd eat well.
They knew why they had knee pain, swollen ankles, sleep apnea, diabeetus, gout, had to use lots of meds etc. She died of a infarct, he after a few strokes.
Beautiful. Never heard them bitching or whining about the consequences of their choice.

Personally for me there are 3 categories.

Sexy, Beautiful and Cute.

Example: sexy: big breasts, curvy, etc... these are the features I look for when fapping (VS models, porn stars)
beautiful: unique sometimes unconventional looks, mostly focused on the face. these are features that I admire (high fashion models)
cute: "average" beauty, cute soft facial features,.... features that I would look for in a GF (women I see outside)
