Just the fact that you choose to carry a knife for protection is pretty ridiculous. Like if you had a knife in a backpack just to use or yo keep it would be acceptable but someone thinking that flipping out a knife when things go bad is going to help anything is pretty laughable.

In order to use a knife on someone else you'd have to get so close to them that they could also pull out their own knife or try to take yours away. This relies a lot on luck and will dangerous fast if they aren't intimidated enough by your knife to stop attacking you. It is a lot safer (and cheaper) to carry pepper spray or bear mace because you can stay a good 8 feet away from who's trying to mess with you and temporarily blind them while you escape.

If you're one of those people who think they could win in a knife fight, you're not. Nobody wins in knife fights.
