Replicas are a mixed bag. Most of the time there will be two versions of the same ting. One with a Japanese movement that makes the price super cheap (relatively) and one with a genuine Swiss movement handmade in actual Switzerland.

Standard Japanese movement Submariner may cost you $200, while a Swiss clone will run $500 for instance. It's really about how much you want to spend for a specific quality.

All are assembled in some part of Asia.
The movements on the cheap ones are a Chinese clone of the Miyota 8215. They also usually have hollow bracelets, glaring flaws, mineral glass, and shitty cyclops magnification.
Better ones will have ETA clones that are fairly well made, solid bracelets, sapphire crystal with double AR, and correct magnification. You can find one of these for around 250 dollars. If you get the right one the quality goes beyond its price point in genuine watches.
