I live in PNW and everybody bleeds flannel. Pendleton is the way to go. They are all 100% wool, a lot of them have leather elbow patches too. They have super classic patterns, or more new age stuff. They've been making flannels since the late 1800s, they know their shit. I have 6 of them, all worth.

You can buy them without elbow patches. Just an added bonus if you like them.

does wool flannel ever get too warm indoors?

Live in pnw too, just bought a cotton flannel for $2 on sale and not sure if its too thin. I know its ok for indoors but worried about outdoors too.

/out/ brands in general make good flannels so look in to those
Fjällräven, Sasta, Tierra and Haglöfs all have decent flannels, though I only have first hand experience owning Fjällräven and Haglöfs ones.
Also Fjällräven at least makes heavy models that are made from thicker fabric and they fell really nice and sturdy, considering my regular one has served me well for 5 years, I'd imagine you are going to have the heavy one for long time, it's probably great for winter as well.

Should you actually wear them on top of something or like normal shirt?

>> No.9052186

>>9052162
You can do it either way, easier to treat them just as normal shirts in my opinion, but throwing sweater or some knitwear under is pretty solid as well if you rock it open.
If you get the heavy ones you can use it as light jacket during springs and falls as well.

You should be able to find most of these brands pretty easily: >>9052116
Dunno if they make darker flannels though. I've been thinking of copping this myself, but kinda on the edge cause I haven't found one live yet and don't know about the quality and I'm not a huge fan of the zip pockets.
The plaid and the colorway is really nice though.

thrift stores

Old school subtle patterns, none of this loud madras-ish Avril lavigne era shit
Quality brands from 30 years ago

Just sort through the nasty ripped/stained stuff and you can stock up

I'm in america so maybe its different but I stock up yearly on Woolrich/bean/Pendleton shirts at some thrift stores nearby. $30 gets you 10-15 shirts. I'm sure there are equivalent brands in das vaterland

W2C slim/fitted flannels? I get a hunch that Pendleton's aren't that slim even in the fitted ones.

I like the colors Uniqlo have, but they are just an autumn shirt and aren't really that warm.

I was considering copping a Gustin flannel since the classic lumberjack pattern they got in looked really fucking nice. I doubt I'll pull the trigger though seeing as it's about to hit the goal. Anyone have experience with their shirts and would like to comment though?
