So, I just got my first pair of raws in the mail. They're tight on the waist, itch, and feel like cardboard. Will this change once they're broken in? Should I be doing something to break them in instead of just wearing them?

Also denim general

>> No.8929591

>>8929472
Yeah, that's how they're supposed to feel. You should be able to barely close the first button. The waist will stretch out to your actual size after a couple of days. The same thing goes with the rigidity: it'll be a bit softer after you wear the jeans for some time and move around a bit. There isn't much you can do about that other than physical activity to speed up the breaking in process.

>> No.8929625

>>8929591
Ok thanks man, I thought it was all pretty standard. I went for a cycle with them on earlier and it was hell but I imagine it helped a little. Good to know about the waist too, I was really worried when I put them on and couldn't do them up right away; too me like 5 minutes to do all the buttons

>> No.8929708

>>8929472

the first few wears are always hell, just like a pair of good boots, you need to break them in. you could start sticking things into the pockets to expand them a little.

if you're in a hurry you could use a steamer on the waistband and then pulling and stretching while it's still hot to expand the waist

>> No.8929757

>>8929708
ok, so my job requires a lot of running around, kneeling, ect. Should I wear them to work tomorrow just to break them in or do you think it'll be hell for me?

Has anyone ever copped Rogue Territories?
I've been itching to grab a pair, and I've settled on Dark SKs because I think Karl is a cool guy, I think the cut would suit me, and I REALLY want a pair of indigo/black or indigo indigo with a good cut. (S-sorry 3sixteen)

I'm not sure how I should size though, I'm somewhere in between sizes. Anyone know how much waist stretches? An inch? Maybe a bit more? I don't wanna grab a pair with a 31.75 inch waist and have em stretch out more than 33 inches and suddenly my but looks weird, but if I went with the 30.75 waist size I don't think they'd stretch to somewhere around 32.5

For SK 14.5 - My true waist size is 31 and I sized down to a 28, which has a 31.5 waist according to Blue Owl. I just got them and they're being hemmed right now, but the waist is said to stretch one whole size. Keep in mind that these things can be tight as fuck if you don't consider the rest of your legs. I sized down to a 27 at first due to the waist size and they were waaaay too tight everywhere else.

I washed a pair of raw denims after about 4 or 5 months. They had stretched out a lot. Baggy ass, stretched out knees. They were also too long so I rolled them up. Others fill a bucket with water, swash them around with some soapy water, rinse with clean water and dry.

yeah, but if you can "go infinite" with the "butler" program it might be worth it...but they're not ver quality jeans in general, work is sloppy, weight is a little iffy.

UNIQLO has better material but sloppier construction.

i mean, levis vintage aren't that great but brands like APC and edwin make them appear middle of the road.

Naked and famous has a good mix of both, eh material, but really clean construction, and stupid branding. stay away from the gimmick shit (glow in the dark, stainless, black selvedge)

>HOW DOES THE BUTLER PROGRAM WORK?

>Return a broken-in pair of A.P.C. raw indigo denim jeans. If approved to become Butlers, you can trade them for a new pair of A.P.C. raw indigo denim jeans at half-price.
>ARE MY A.P.C. JEANS BUTLER MATERIAL?

>Not every pair of A.P.C. raw denim jeans is ready to become a Butler.
>To show its unique character, it needs to have been broken in to a certain degree and washed following specific instructions: dry clean, hand wash or machine wash in cold water with Woolite black, and in any case no spin cycle.
Letting them get dirty for as long as possible before their first wash is also highly recommended.
>In order to know if your jeans are ready for the Butler program, please refer to the images below.

Also levis tends to have shit qc and youll get multiple pairs of the same cut that are different

Raws are generally (I say generally because it really depends on the brands you go to) better made, and you know you can count on the product you buy.
Denim fading is cool and all but not really the point of wearing raws. It's mostly because you can find a great pair of jeans exactly how you want them with all the options out there.
Like personally, I like denim with really cool texture. Hair denim with lots of slub. Japanese brands like Samurai and Oni make plenty of options for me that I can't really find in Levis.
