Posting one of my beloved watches, because I can't restraint myself from doing so. This particular model was discussed in the last posts of the previous thread.

I also have a interesting idea. This is /fa/ after all, so why don't we post our watches (the ones we really own) and also post how do we combine them to merge with our oufits?

I'll start: that Chronoris I use it with black snickers, a Zegna belt that has practically the same orange stitching, a tibetan beads bracelet again with almosy the same string color and a vintage pair of Rayban sunglasses, bysides the clothes of that day ourfit.
Whay about you /fa/ggots?

They're worth ~$600 (stainless steel models), maybe a little more for the ceramic bezel ones and other ones with special features (Milgauss, etc.), let's say $800.

Almost any Rolex is worth more than 5000 usd and that's realisitic and fare appreciation, what it isn't worthy is the final MSRP of some models in wich the increments on the pricetag acts as an exclusivity valve (fucking WG Daytona with meteorite dial and no bracelet at 35000 usd has the exact same movement than the steel one that costs 11800 usd).

Rolex are good, trustable watches, build acording high quality standars. What they obviously aren't is the best nor the greatest watches.

Just buy a Rodina or whatever you want and tell whoever is going to say something bad about it to fuck off. None of their business as long as you don't make them wear it. That's what I do in (extremely rare) occasions when someone says my watch sucks (two cheap quartz and the Shanghai I've posted). It always works.

The same works with me being vegetarian (not vegan), I don't advertise it so people normally get to know I am at the party of some sort.

The same works with me collecting My Little Pony figurines, I just keep them at my desk at work and they mostly get mentioned only if my colleague's headphones cable cause one or two to fall or when someone brings their kid to office.

You can get away with, like, anything these days, so just buy whatever you like, most of people won't even notice anyway.

This actually made them quite interesting altough I'm a little biased since I'd had prefer if they either try to make the entire movement out of gold (like my Journe) or if thay engraved the floral design in the entire upper plate (like Chopard's work) and left the escapement bridges for the personal engraving, but, made as it is, it creates a new type of finishing (as far as I know) and that's also always good. Well, maybe for all you people with itsi bitsi tiny wrists, but yes, I get what you mean. There are exceptions, however.
For example, between the watches I have collected I own a Panerai (44m) too and I don't think I'm a flashy douchbag, maybe a bit assholey, but not fashy. I simply am tall and have big bones, therefore, like me, there are some people that can pull them off.

Not mine, the one that I posted before, but I do have one (pic related is mine).

I went with the 16600 because it's a watch I have never seen anybody else wear. Everybody has a Submariner or a GMT, but I have never seen anybody with the pre-2008 Sea-Dweller. It looks a lot like a Submariner but without the cyclops, and it has a thicker case so it sits higher on the wrist, which I really like. It's also a lot heavier. I purchased mine specifically because it was made after 2004 and before 2008. This means than the Sea-Dwellers made in those 4 years are the only ones without lug holes, which makes it slightly rarer. I don't care at all for the Deep-Sea or the new Ceramic Sea Dweller.

So, basically, it's a really nice everyday Rolex that not everyone has. It my eyes, it's the perfect Rolex.

I also have an Audemars Pigeut Royal Oak Offshore, which I am not really that big a fan of. I am considering selling it off sometime in the near future. Also got a A. Lange & Söhne Datograph in platinum, a Rolex Daytona in steel with a white dial, a Patek 5196P and some other stuff, but it's all in my bank vault. I don't feel safe with it in my house, so I rarely have more than two watches in my home at once.

Strangely enough, out of all the watches I have, the Rolex 16600 is my favorite. I think it's really fucking neat.

I agree, they're a bit immature. The model in the picture (gulfmaster black) is the only model I've considered. Because, to me, it's the nicest looking g-shock and has some serious features which would beneficial to me (outdoors a lot). However, I'd like to look in to other makes for more formal environments (suit and tie). However, I don't know many brands.

What are some decent, respectable brands of watches? What are some mid-priced brands that won't get me laughed at and keep good time?

You know that's exactly the kind of attitude to have with regards to these things. G-shocks have a time and place and are perfectly good watches, but you would look ridiculous wearing them with a suit and tie.

What do you want from a watch and how much would you consider spending?

Yeah, the Casio I'd wear primarily outdoors and during activity/labor intense times. I bang up my arms a lot and wouldn't want something I'm scared of breaking or scratching.

As far as a more formal watch, I'd be willing to spend upwards of $900 or so. Maybe $1000 depending on if I really like it.

I'm a fan of subtlety. I don't want anything to "show-offy" I'd probably want to get one black, modern, but subtle piece, and another silver/stainless piece. And possibly a third piece with a brown leather band.
