Bought this military made in Japan seiko and I followed the instructions in the manual to set the time/date, however when I woke up the watch was stopped and the date is wrong and hasn't changed.

The exact model I have is snzg09j1, help on how to set pls. Like a utube link or something. Also read like the natural wrist movement helps to wind the watch but I only wear it on weekends when I go out since it'll get wrecked at work. So it's mainly just in my drawer.

the movement's got ~38 hours of power on a full wind. you're going to have to reset the watch every friday if you only wear it on the weekend.
don't forget to swing it side-to-side ~40 times to give it an initial wind before wearing it.

also it's designed to be worn 8 hours each day, every day. the manual for other models with the same movement warn that the watch might gain or lose more time than normal if it's left in a drawer all week instead.

i'm pretty sure that model of watch uses the 7s26 movement, so here's a manual for that:

it's for seiko's dive watches, but it's the same movement and it's certainly better than the manual that came with my SNK809.

if you really can't be arsed to set and wind the watch every weekend, you could always buy a watch winder.
it'll gently spin the watch all week, keeping it wound.
kind of overkill for a cheap seiko though.

I took it to one of those bootmakers/key cutters/watch repair places and they couldn't do anything with it, then a skagen store couldn't help me, maybe an actual specified watch repair shop?

This is...wow...

Look, those are quick-release spring bars. You push that little knob towards the center to release them from the lugs, the part that stick out from the watch to hold the strap.

Most of the time, if you buy a new strap, the new strap will come with new spring bars. Look for straps that will fit the width of of your lugs and simply replace the old spring bars.

You could also simply cut a small notch in any new spring bars to fit the quick release ones but I'm going to assume that you shy away from DIY tasks.

The other guy's watch is an older model that doesn't use screws. I'm betting Skagen switched to something a bit more unconventional to ensure the average consumer would come back to Skagen for straps if he or she ever wanted more.

Like $300? It may be a lot to some people but I'm a watch aficionado so 300 bucks was well, WELL worth it to me. The watch works flawlessly and only people that really know stuff about watches will be able to identify that it's a fake just by looking at your wrist.

It's perfect for clubbing and 'showing off' when it's appropriate before the clueless spoiled blondes in bars or whatever.

If you google 'Trusty Time' you'll find a place to buy these. I'll say no more.

P.S I'm the owner of the Breguet 7787 from the previous thread, so I feel no shame in saying I enjoy both replica and genuine watches - there's a time and place for everything.

I'd rather say the gold plating doesn't look at home at such cheap watches. Moreover, it must be really thin and would scratch or wear down, exposing brass of which I believe the case is made of.

Having similar cheap watch myself (and of similar style), I picked brass case, which is also shiny but probably would age a little less ugly.

I am not a clever man. How the fuck do I get the straps off this watch? And how do I set the date on it? I really like the timer cause I actually use it but the straps and calendar... I'd prefer a nylon one since it's not a fancy watch at all.

a lot of watches have a second crystal on the back so you can see the movement

some watches are skeletonized: the face is cut to the bare minimum to hold the watch together and every spare bit of metal inside is shaved away so you can see the whole movement through the main crystal
i think they're pretty tacky though.

other watches are partially skeletonized to show off a particular complication, especially with tourbillons.

I've found the specs, it seems to be a nice quartz watch, sapphire glass and then a good dial indeed.

So I'd say keep it and enjoy wearing, just don't go like that's muh swiss watches.

Also, whoever gave them to you has good taste, I really really like the dial, nice modern look. Probably would look even better on a leather strap.

I'd keep wearing it. World timers with 24-hr dials are somewhat uncommon. I also like that it is lugless and that the bezel makes the watch look like a UFO saucer; very vintage.

I've got it on this nato until a perforated brown leather strap arrives. Don't really like the combo but it wears better than the leather. Makes the watch feel bigger (which I need).

Turned the movement so 12 is at 1:30.

Also, if you look at the Le Locle chrono which has arabic numerals, combined with the all caps tissot logo it looks alot cheaper and less classy than the numeral numbered one, in my opiniion

Hey can you guys help me decide which watch to get?

I have $160 left on a gift card for amazon and was thinking about getting a watch.

I like the nixon watch, although I think they've been a pretty fuccboi brand, I think that one looks pretty decent. I like thin watches though and I know those are not.

Orient is always heavily recommended. Just not sure which color....

I was going to expand the poorfag guide to include midrange ~$500 watches when I was first making it but I decided against it due to a lack of time and due to the /g/ watch generals being geared towards more affordable watches. I can give you a few recommendations.

i can't recommend most of tissot's line because they're just basic quartz but hamilton and steinhart I recommend on the whole.

I also own a skeleton watch myself that I got off a friend. Probably chinese shit but the aesthetic is unique compared to the storm of g-shocks that are in my area. Tons of compliments from general pubic.

How do people always think that?

In my country there's this auction channel thingy (with falling price and everybody gets the price of the last sold item) and they are doing watches half the time.
They sell crap at really cheap prices and 90% of the watches are swiss made. They use Ronda movements and a lot of others I can't recall right now. And yeah Ronda doesn't do automatics but they are selling other automatics but ETAs as well.

TL:DR There's not only ETA and Patek in Switzerland
