I want to grow my hair, but I'm not sure if it's possible (or if I just need to battle through this stage). Basically this is as long as I ever let it get. When it grows it grows 'up' (and sticks up) rather than falling 'back' on itself. Do I just need to let it keep growing so that it has more weight and will sit down? Or am I just not suited to growing my hair longish?

Yeah same happened to me yesterday.

You can buy a loreal heat protection spray for your hair before you blowdry it which would help.

Also use some crew fiber and hairspray to mess it up a bit. I have to use product or else it just looks shit.

I get my hair cut every 2-3 weeks. I get either a half or 1 on the back/sides and just barely trim the top. The back and sides grow like absolute weeds while the top of my hair seems to have stopped growing. I know I'm trimming it but it's a tiny amount and it never seems to grow back longer. I want the top as long as the OP. Could something like rogaine help this or will that make it worse? Could it be a sign of future balding?

What products give a soft and moisturised look with good holding strength?

I do no poo and condition my hair, it looks shiny and feels really soft. There is no connection cause I've had this problem before no poo.

I style my hair with product all the time and it looks okay for maybe 30mins to 1hour. I sweat quite a lot and my hair first just flops down and loses all volume, which is expected, but then when it dries comes the real problem.

My hair turns into a fucking uncontrollable pile of hay. It looks and feels really dry and sticks out in all different directions and if I were to try and put it back in place it goes noooooope and falls wherever the fuck it wants to, usually to an undesirable effect.

How 2 Achieve hair of TheGentlemansCove? My hair is pretty much same as his, thick and straight. How does he have it looking like it's sort of moist all the time while being mangeable and not greasy and staying in place.

Flat iron won't help you. It'll frizz your hair even more.

Just don't go after "hitler youthesque" haircuts at all and styling won't help you either.

Your hair is very very dry. Stop shampooing it, clean it with only water and condition it whenever you wash your hair.

I have the same problem as you, my hair is thick as fuck. What you gotta do is buy thinning scissors, they sell them at walmart, thin your hair out with the help of a tutorial on youtube and your hair will look better.

Once your hair is soft and thin, it's time to cut it. Keep your bangs quite a bit longer than the rest of your hair so when you push it back, it doesn't stick straight up and become an afro.

most american salons use exclusively redken

depending on your actual cut i can't recommend no-poo or otherwise though. i have thick hair and i shampoo my hair twice a day. at night i take a shower and shampoo, then i wake up and shampoo in sink and blowdry it to mess it up.

if it's getting fuzzy its because you're letting it get too dry. use something like redken working material (picture) and then hairspray once you get it into a decent style. don't be afraid of hairspray, it comes in all different types so you just have to experiment. I used to use mouse a lot but i dont think it actually does much for thick hair

If you want to control your hair you should invest in a tub of crew fiber. I normally use it after I towel dry my hair when it's kinda wet, then blow dry it, then use another bit when it's dry (rub it in like shampoo), then use a bit of hair spray.

Your hair should feel much nicer and easier to move around.

This is my hair. It grows in about 4 different directions but mainly straight out to the sides like some sort of Afro bullshit. I want to grow it out longer to be able to work with it, but the growing period of my hair makes me more like a chia pet and very unaesthetic. Is there something I can put it in to make it not look so bad or perhaps I should cut the sides? Or is a hat the only feasible option? Also, I should probably do something about the eyebrows. that said do not wash your hair every day. every 2-3 days is good. it will be easier to style. don't use a heavy gel or pomade, light product will give you volume but look fluffy like simon's. requires constant preening

Okay, that's the exact thread I was looking for. My hair's nothing but misery.

My hair's short to medium length. Recently got rid of my undercut by growing it out. Got a crown in my fringe and on the back of my head. Also my hairline's not absolutely straight and my forehead's the size of an aircraft carrier.
Oh, and not to forget: At the roots my hair is kinda lighter, which makes my forehead look even fucking bigger (might be actually recognizable on the picture).

Got the same type of hair as you man. No poo is essential for curly hair like ours. Conditioner every day and shampoo only if you have to, at most once a week with a pea sized drop of shampoo. You can buzz it or grow it. Try to stay away from the side part it makes us look like Romanian car salesmen. If you're in love with straight hair you can put on a hat or something while it dries if you have time and it should flatten it out if you don't sweat.

I did no poo and everything was going fine until I started school and could not manage to eat properly or sleep. I lost a shit ton of weight and started balding like crazy. My barber told me that scalp is being burned like crazy and it keeps flaking no matter how much I moisturize it with coconut oil and conditioner. My hair is not dry but i still get dandruff. I really don't know what to do with my hair. I'm barely eighteen and for the last four years or so, I've always rocked a buzz cut because I always knew I'd be bald long before I hit twenty five. Before I started buzzing it, my hair was pretty straight. For about the last four months, I let it grow out. The longer it got, the wavier it got until it was down right curly. I have a widow's peak recession and I've been told that my crown is thinning. I guess my first question is: Should I just say fuck it and stay with the buzz cut now that it's back? Or should I try to enjoy my hair while I still have it? If so, how do you really care for your hair? It might seem like a stupid question, but try to understand that this is coming from someone whose hair always got sheared off before the tips were a full month old. My hair is somewhere between dry and oily. I don't know if no poo is really an option for me. I get a layer of grime on my scalp by the end of the day even at this length and I feel like I'll end up scrubbing too hard and thinning it more if I just use water. Also, when I dry it, is there any way to prevent frizzing? Or do I just have to accept my shitty hair and add product to it directly after I wash it?
