OP, i think if you like having a hy you should stick to it. the fact is, for me personally, no haircut looks better. i've always had kind of longish hair, and whenever i got it cut short or varied it too much from the kind of basic 'white teen that listens to nirvana' cut i got really miserable with it.
i think the hy is perfect (for me anyway) you can enjoy having shaggy hair you can style and ruffle and mess around with, but shaving off the sides and back just makes it look cleaner (plus it's a lot less irritating and easier to care for)
i know it and its variants are now very popular with basically every major city's lad/chav/whatever you name for working class boy is population, but that will only impact negatively on your own view of whats on your own head if you let it do that.
main goal of this rambling post: keep your cool hair and enjoy it! don't change it arbitrarily because some ppl you don't like have it too!
