even if you're ugly, you can be /fa/, or rather you can be fashionable- there's a difference, because /fa/ emphasizes being attractive. the thing is to pay attention to what kind of fashion works for you

for example, if you look at slp and acne and shit, you'll notice their models all look like gods and have perfect bodies. that kind of fashion will look weird on you if you are ugly by conventional standards

'avant garde' shit like rick owens is more the path you're going to want to take because the aesthetic accomodates you. look at the models rick uses, look at how the marketing targets weirdos and artists, look at the kind of people who wear that clothing and you realize the people buying that stuff aren't doing it to look attractive, they're doing it because they like the clothing (either because they genuinely respect the art or because they're aspirationally dressing faggots trying to show off their money and 'taste', but that's beside the point), and if they try to make themselves look better it's only to make their bodies worth putting the clothing on

i think that's one of the reasons rick has been so successful financially; this entire philosophy is 'more fashionable than fashion', in a sense. rich people who want to play dress up have always liked associating themselves with your avant garde starving artist types, and so it's become a better way of impressing your rich idiot friends to dress up in rick and yohji and ann demeulmeester and pretend you're a socially isolated poet or some shit than it is to dress up in the more 'traditional' designer houses. now this is all of course only applicable to the kind of pretentious rich people who want to set themselves apart, which is still a relatively small subset compared to your average rolex-buying gucci wearing elliott rodger fuckhead.

i don't claim to be an authority on this kind of thing anyway but i wanted to expand on this thought because it's interesting, especially in light of how much more financially successful Rick is than most people would assume, and i think /fa/ doesn't think enough about the audience/consumer base for fashion and what fashion 'says' enough, in a way that definitely interacts with whether 'ugly people' can 'be fashionable'

I legit think kanye has a great sense of style. well, maybe not that, but he can pull together a decent outfit and he looks good in it - he's a negro. and they are closest to apes/monkeys than any other race and that's why they are more primal or sth, and thus more charismatic/attractive (that's my theory anyways), he is rich and looks confident
