I think they're onto something but they're not quite there yet. A bit too large & awkward and the WW II Bomber Bimbos look terrible.

Once I noticed a Swiss black (onyx) and cold dress watch in a fine jewelery store. I couldn't get it out of my mind for years.

Finally I'd saved the two grand & bought that sucker. I loved it and still have it but it never drew a single compliment.

Then because my new job was hard on watches I bought a $30 Timex. That Timex drew compliments & remarks almost daily.

Ressence is an startup watch brand that was established in 2009 by industrial designer Benoit Mintiens. Coming from industrial design as opposed to horology, he’s clearly had some different ideas on how to tell time. His Type 3 watch goes for an ultra-minimalist design, while still remaining unique. While it uses a more standard automatic movement within, it’s actually liquid-filled. This removes the need for hands or a crown, with discs rotating in the synthetic oil to tell the time, all sealed in a curved sapphire cover. across the bezel-less dial, it includes a hours dial, small-seconds dial, am/pm indicator dial and minute dial around the outer rim. With it being liquid-filled, it has a pressure valve to adjust for temperature changes.

Romain Jerome is no stranger to an outlandish design and their latest piece, called the Spacecraft, feels right at home for them, even though it looks like it’s from an vintage sci-fi movie. Using a mechanical movement, it presents the time with a retro-future display. The hours are displayed on the front, with the minutes on a dial on top. The case is made with matching space-age PVD-coated titanium and uses a black polyamide mesh strap.

Harry Winston always impresses the horological world and this year is no exception with their Histoire de Tourbillon 4. The fourth in their series of exploring the tourbillon, this features a tri-axial tourbillon for near-perfect performance and accuracy. Designed to look like a mini-mechanical metropolis made of 345 pieces, you can see the world through multi-levels of domed sapphire crystal and interlocked parts. Materials used include 18-karat white gold, Zalium (Harry Winston’s trademarked aluminum/zirconium blend) and DLC.

Rebellion T-1000 Gotham

The T-1000 Gotham by Rebellion reminds me both of the futuristing vehicles in Terminator 2 and tank-style Batmobile from the Dark Knight (in both design and name). The T-1000 was originally revealed in at the 2010 Baselworld, with the Gotham being their new super-charged version. The name T-1000 doesn’t come from the Terminator movie, but the fact that it can display the time for 1000 hours straight, thanks to six barrels bound with 2 chains. There are over 693 components just for the powerful movement in this beast, which is visible through some of it’s armor. The time is then displayed with two rollers. The case is forged from titanium with a DLC treatment and show here with red detailing. Other color detailing options include blue, purple, gold, titanium and DLC titanium.

Konstantin Chaykin Cinema

The most subtle of the list comes from Russian watchmaker Konstantin Chaykin with their Cinema watch. What this classy timepiece represents is a tribute to the origin of filmmaking, the the first movie projector called the zoopraxiscope and its inventor Eadweard Muybridge. The zoopraxiscope was invented in the late 1800s and used a wheel with a series of photographs that rotated behind a projector light, which produced an animated image. The short animation is of a horse galloping, which was said to be the first film ever projected. The square case was purposefully designed to mimic an antique projector or camera, with a combination of polished metal, toothed and beveled edges and square and circle shapes. The case is made with steel, along with enamel and brass, adding to the vintage feel. A separate movement is used to power the projector, which includes a disc with 12 images that plays for around 20 seconds.

C3H5N3O9 Nitroglycerine Watch is the chemical formula for nitroglycerine, by the way. And, it’s also a watch company, sort of. An “horological experiment” according the the madmen behind the C3H5N3O9 Experiment ZR012 watch. I know. That’s not the most inviting of names. Almost as bad as McLaren’s MP4-12C GT3.

Every chemistry student understands that when certain exotic components are mixed, a volatile and explosive reaction can occur. And, in the summer of 2008, that’s exactly what happened. As far as the watch world is concerned, you don’t get much more exotic than MB&F and URWERK. So, when Maximilian Büsser of MB&F and Felix Baumgartner of URWERK got together, they set off an explosive chain reaction culminating, four years later, in the C3H5N3O9 ZR012.

Actually amazing doesn’t do it justice. It’s unique, awesome and beautiful, and it’s not just a watch winder! But.. for the moment let’s rewind it a little bit :) It all started 2 years back, when our friend Allen , a big watch enthusiast who like us has a huge thing for innovative modern watchmaking, has acquired his Horological Machine 3 by MB&F

He loved the watch, and was inspired by it so much, that when the decision to choose a winder for his timepiece had to be made none of them out there had what he was looking for. So in order to make his dream of the perfect winder come true he had to create the project and the machine himself, and it began with a drawing.

Of course putting your dream on paper is one thing and many of us can do it, but actually taking the time and making it your work to bring the idea to life takes a lot of dedication. And so do all the little details that have to be thought of; Allen created the Dream Machine all out of Aluminum, contrary to plastic, which would have been lighter and cheaper to make, but wouldn’t have the same metallic feel and quality. And now, that it is finally made, we can all stare at that mechanical winder-wonder.

To explain how it works (as it’s not your average winder) Allen has collaborated with a friend of his and together they came up with an awesome video showing what the machine does. So before I say anything else check it out:

it is in fact more than just a winder, to me it’s a piece of mechanical art, inspired by an equally great mechanical timepiece. The entire thing measures 100 cm (1 meter) in length, 60 cm in height and 35 in width, and that really puts the MEGA into Megawind :) The machine has 2 switches (that you also could see in the clip), one of them is for the smaller watch winder and another is for the whole rotating 3D sphere madness going on around the watch. The entire look of this Dream is inspired by the deadly rotor of Horology Machines from MB&F, and I think if there were more of these beauties they would definitely deserve a place at the M.A.D. Gallery (just sayin’…).

Allen has already showcased his new ‘baby’ at the Independent Watch & Art Salon in Taiwan alongside with MB&F, HYT, Cristophe Claret and other celebrated watchmakers of this century! It definitely deserved to be there and we hope that Allen keeps pursuing his dreams further and as soon as he comes up with another crazy machine we will definitely let you guys know! :)

since you brought it up I need to leave a legacy. I grew up in an age where the diabolical contraption pictured was the power source for our Xboxes.

It was used as the transformer for HO Gauge model trains back then. Fun was far fewer gimmicks and lots more imagination back then.

Anyway along the way someone mentioned using a train transformer in the bedroom. The transformer merely steps down the 110 AC to a more manageable feed to the trains electric motor.

.....now enters imagination

Sadly it appears the horizontal electric boogie seemed a good idea to me but it was way ahead of it's time in the 60's, 70's & 80's when I was looking for a dance partner.

The sexual beckoning of a Lionel Multivolt Toy Train Transformer K was lost on them. (a few questioned my sanity)

Actually my idea might even help those DOMA nuts who want to return to bundling for sex. It even invests the tired old Missionary Position with new life.

One merely attaches a light copper wire to each terminal and then each partner attaches one (1) of the ends to their big toe.

In theory the wet contact point twixt pussy & penis gets stimulated and you adjust the current to your preferences.

Every single watch posted in this thread reeks of retardation and bad taste. Whoever is posting this nonsense, please have the decency to fuck off and die so that we don't have to see this shit on the front page. Take your steampunk inspired bullshit somewhere else. Imagine wearing a watch like that in respectable society, you would look like a fucking clown. Whilst you are basking in your delusions of individuality people would be laughing at your pants-on-head retarded idea of what can passed of as fashionable.

In summary, kill yourself you old fart.
